Some are following the liberal narrative of dictating about things that they have no clue of how it works.I take it a few people here have never owned a business and have not a f****** clue what they are talking about. It shows that is for sure.

I would take a step back and ask where the Constitution authorizes any of this including businesses being shut down by the .gov.
Most every fast food restaurant advertising jobs locally has posted pay STARTING around $12/hr and hiring bonuses of $100-$300. Those rates go up after 6 months as well.I guess we don't need cashiers, janitors, stockers, clerks, food service workers, etc, since their skills really aren't worth a ****.
The places mentioned (Dollar General, Hardees, Subway) pay barely above minimum wage. Meanwhile, I know people who aren't fit to pour **** out of a boot with the instructions written on the bottom who are making at least $14 an hour at various occupations that are of no more increased skill than the workers at the places that are closing because they can't find any suckers to put up with the public's asshattery for a pittance.
They can change their business models or go out of business. **** 'em.
But the facts don’t matter. Only feeeeeeewingsMost every fast food restaurant advertising jobs locally has posted pay STARTING around $12/hr and hiring bonuses of $100-$300. Those rates go up after 6 months as well.
One wonders how the little pansies would deal with life on a submarine.
Sigh. Loans given to businesses are to prevent too many places that employ others from going down the tubes. Covid impact loans: rates lower than my mortgage may be forgivable with proper paperwork abd
Employee retention tax credit: 28k a year per employee tax credit if you experience 20% decline in revenue. Free money
And let’s not forget the PPP. 10 mil limit on first draw 2 mil on second. Forgivable (free money) in full if used for payroll, rents, utilities, and a whole bunch more.
now the individual got a couple grand.they were told to live on their savings, Less than 10% income replacement really. I’m still waiting for my 100k individual protection loan forgivable if I use for rent, food, utilities or my loan to renovate my house that’s forgivable. businesses were handed out free money at a level that they love to say is socialism if given to individuals.
the government forced most families to make one parent stay home. No daycare, no schools. They effectively closed down 1/2 of my income. I got pennies in return.
do I run a business? Yes I run one with p/l responsibility and own my own small business as well. The difference in my attitude is that I can open my eyes and see the difference in treatment of effected individuals and businesses by gov without my bias.
individuals have risk. .gov literally said if you don’t have savings then you can just starve while you wait for food stamps to get approved.
who thinks income replacement loans to individuals that are forgivable if used for rent, food are socialism???? If that’s socialism then why should businesses get it?
That seems like market forces trying to find the balance between pay and profit. We can't have that happen slowly over time because no politician can take credit for it - thus the royal $15 decreeMost every fast food restaurant advertising jobs locally has posted pay STARTING around $12/hr and hiring bonuses of $100-$300. Back in 2000 I worked at the mill in pittsboro. They were hiring temp to perm. Of the 25 people that went through orientation 7 remained after the first week. 2 of us made it to the 90 days to get hired full timeWell, mill life is not for everyone. But the percentage of people running away has skyrocketed.
As for life on a sub... well I've seen pretty brave guys look at the hatch and say, "Nope! No way".
Yes that’s how demand is created. Trickle down has been failing for decades. .gov gave a consumers just a small percentage of what they gave businesses and now demand is booming for everything. Hence inflation. If that money was given to individuals, would they employ others and generate wealth that would contribute to the tax base?
It’s been proven that when the free money dries up then businesses layoff. The only thing that creates a permanent job is more demand. When it (forgiveably) loans money to a business that employs others

There's a reason they call it 'work'
I would argue that they designed their hiring program very stupidly.Back in 2000 I worked at the mill in pittsboro. They were hiring temp to perm. Of the 25 people that went through orientation 7 remained after the first week. 2 of us made it to the 90 days to get hired full time
You are dealing with a conditional truth. Supply side economics can work well in a closed system, or at least with adequate protections to prevent the export of jobs. It will NOT work, as demonstrated, when those at the top are supported by government assistance while exporting jobs to third-world sweatshops, all while inflating prices available to citizens in the domestic economy with precipitously shrinking incomes, as clearly shown in the 90s.Yes that’s how demand is created. Trickle down has been failing for decades. .gov gave a consumers just a small percentage of what they gave businesses and now demand is booming for everything. Hence inflation.

recommended reading below. I get that most here have been fed the trickle down economics theory their whole life but it doesn’t work And government debt doesn’t matter. We have moved on as a global system to demand centered economics and “modern monetary theory” that says gov debt doesn’t matter and printer goes brrr forever handing out free money.
work as we know it is going to drastically change in the next decade. My prediction is a 30 hour work week and wage growth that borderline kills the stock market. 20x P/E ratios can’t stand when wages rise instead of using that money to line the pockets of wealthy shareholders

There were a lot of problems in that facility for sure. They used steel saw blades to cut the bars which left burrs. The de-burring station couldn’t keep up with the rolling mill so most got pull off and hand ground with 10” majors grinders. Every noob got put on the grinder the first two weeks (whic was a 3 day 12 hour week and a 4 day 12 hour/day week). If you made it past that then you went in to sone other less sucky task. I had forklift experience so I got out outside on the 15 and 31 ton lifts we used. Eventually started loading trucks, then loading train cars, then running the engine and cranes. Because I worked harder I got to learn new things and get raises for those things. It’s also why during their layoffs I was the last layoff besides the 4 people they kept to load CLS crap for 3 months clearing the place out for liquidation. I had a job longer than 90% of the people there because I made myself baluableI would argue that they designed their hiring program very stupidly.

What determines what someone's labor is worth is the market. If what McDonalds pays in Australia is the market wage for fast food workers, then that's the value of their labor. If the government is arbitrarily setting the wage high, then they're being paid more than their labor is worth. Value can't be dictated.Who are you to determine what someone's labor is worth? Are Australian workers worth more than American workers?

It does help explain some of the numbers being claimed in order to support whatever policies.I have said literally nothing about how hard I've had it. I've done quite well, thanks. I am, however, capable of seeing how other people have it, through both personal experience and refusing to close my eyes and cover my ears.
It should be pretty clear that the job market and employment outlook today is not the same as for past generations, for several reasons. Blame whatever you want, but it is what it is. And a few years of high interest in the mid to late 70's doesn't change that.
