Obama may not have said the words, but - at least the first time around - his supporters believed he could usher in a post-racial America. In fact, that exact phrase helped define the media coverage of his candidacy.

Similarly, Trump is apparently leveraging his richness to "usher in" a post-recession America that will make us all rich.

(See how I brought that back around to the topic?) :D

Who had that expectation? Obama didn't run on the "I'll be the first Black president and bring races together" platform? That's the political version of picking the black guy because you'll think he'll be good at basketball (which, I can tell you would be an epically bad idea if you pick me).

Who had that expectation? Probably just about everyone who voted for him. Black. White. That's not the same as picking the black guy for basketball. It's more like the sense that an electorate that would elect the black guy expects that he would not himself be racially divisive.

I can't think of a single political victory he's had based on this personal belief, nor any inclination that he had surrogates push forward that agenda.
Further, why must Obama care for racial harmony? Bush didn't, Clinton didn't, HW Bush didn't, nor Ronnie, nor Ford, nor Nixon...... why does Obama have to carry that flag? ....because he's Black?

Your failure of memory doesn't mean much. I guess you might not be in a great position to notice being constantly called a racist for daring to oppose the Great One on anything. Perhaps you didn't notice Eric Holder early on calling everyone who disagreed with Obama a racist. But mostly, I think this line of reasoning shows you still don't understand the issue. It's not really black vs white. It's left vs right using black vs white. It's social justice as a big stick.

As he's a two term president, I don't buy into him being racially divisive. There aren't enough Black voters to solely put him into office sans widespread support from every other group of note. And I don't believe the American electorate is full of people that feel guilty about the sins of the past. If anything, the election of Obama has exposed a lot of nasty people for who they really are, both Black and White..... and I'm not sure that's a bad thing.

Not racially divisive? Did you notice the position Obama took in EVERY racial story? Which side did he take in the Trayvon Martin shooting. Which side did he take with Brown? That he took those sides at all before the facts were know IS DIVISIVE! America is way more divided now than before Obama took office. Maybe it's not all because of him and his tactics, but if not, he certainly did nothing to bring us together. He threw the cops under the bus for shootings that were justified. And that helped fuel riots. He could have calmed the nation. Instead he chose to further divide it.

Obama gained office because of black people, yes. They voted in numbers rarely seen at the polls. But proportionally most people were white, many of which were ideological leftists, and many were people who just wanted to vote for the black guy to show their moral superiority. Maybe you didn't know this. But yes. Many whites feel guilty about sins of the past. They feel guilty about being white. They feel guilty about being American. They feel guilty about being human. Self loathing is seen as moral superiority. So they wear it on their sleeves.

I agree completely with the emphasized part.

obama being elected was supposed to heal the planet, fix racial issues, lower ocean levels, make the world love America again because Bush screwed it up so bad.

Has ANY of that came to pass? Respect for America worldwide is exactly how high now?
Seems like obama has taken America even further down the hole.

The media is trying to paint a Trump presidency as the exact opposite of what obama was supposed to be.
Funny because the obama presidency has been EXACTLY what they are wanting us to believe a Trump presidency would be.
Divisive and a world wide failure.

I'm NOT a Trump fan... but realistically you can't take a dump in NJ , much less build a casino, without somehow building a relationship with a mobster or two. The place is THAT big of a cesspool. Yet another reasson I'm not a fan of folks like Christie and Trump - that is to them like Chicago is for Rahm and Obama...

All of that said - do I CONDEMN them for it?? I CAN'T, in all honesty. It's what you have to do to do business there. Not a + for sure, but I can't call it a disqualifier or anything like that.

I'm sure even if you DO try to have a business without them being involved, you'll have some customers showing up to mention how nice a place it is, shame if anything happened to it.

    Wait.

I'm totally confused. White dude gets up, walks to the aisle front of a bunch LEOs FOR THE PURPOSE OF throwing down on the black guy who was being led out. So they tackle the black guy and apparently do nothing to the white guy?

Is there more info on this?

Oh snap! Yeah, but isn't he more in the DC area? This was Fayatteville.

Well, I image something similar is unlikely in DC (thankfully). I'd like to hear his thoughts on attending one of Trump's rallies. I thought about maybe going to one, but now, honestly that seems like a bad idea....

What's the guy chanting in the second vid? It sounds like "that word," but I'm sensitive, and just may be hearing that in my head....

    YUP.

Not sure what you were watching, but I saw a kind old gentlemen in a stetson and leather vest reach out for a high five and the thug in the white Tshirt headbutted his hand and attempted to bite off his fingers. :dunno:
