I voted for Trump in every election, because I believe in his populist message, that said I think it's time for him to move on only because he has succeeded in making himself the modern equivalent of Vietnam in today's political arena. He's combative, and that's a good thing, but he's become a unifying symbol that consolidates our opposition rather than fragments it.

That said, I would vote for Frank Hamer for any political office. ;)

I like his America-first message, part of which is populist because the power brokers think America is bad. America-first is, at a minimum, patriotic. A certain populism isn't enduring. The populist movement in the late 1800s wanted direct democracy. I'm damn glad that populism didn't take hold.

I don't think populism is bad, per se. I think I am a populist in the sense that America-first is how the people feel, and the elites who run the show are apposed to that.

Very true, populism in it's early days really doesn't apply today. I see it as Americans first and...

Well. I agree with most of that. Not all that sure about not megalomaniac after seeing the ad “on the 8th day” put out by the DeSantis campaign. Yeesh! I mean. At least we’re all pretty sure he didn’t **** a porn star while his wife is pregnant with his kid. So there’s that.
Well, the 8th day add was just a riff on Paul Harveys "so God made a farmer".

Neither, when he became a sore loser extraordinaire, surpassing Algore, Hilary and Abrams, and tried to induce Pence to overturn the certified state election results to APPOINT him president...

That would be when he lost any chance of ever again garnering my vote.

    Ever.
    From his Jan 6th speech:
And I'll tell you. Thank you very much, John. Fantastic job. I watched. That's a tough act to follow, those two. John is one of the most brilliant lawyers in the country, and he looked at this and he said, "What an absolute disgrace that this can be happening to our Constitution."

And he looked at Mike Pence, and I hope Mike is going to do the right thing. I hope so. I hope so.

Because if Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election. All he has to do, all this is, this is from the number one, or certainly one of the top, Constitutional lawyers in our country. He has the absolute right to do it. We're supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our Constitution, and protect our constitution.

States want to revote. The states got defrauded. They were given false information. They voted on it. Now they want to recertify. They want it back. All Vice President Pence has to do is send it back to the states to recertify and we become president and you are the happiest people.

And I actually, I just spoke to Mike. I said: "Mike, that doesn't take courage. What takes courage is to do nothing. That takes courage." And then we're stuck with a president who lost the election by a lot and we have to live with that for four more years. We're just not going to let that happen.

    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Which state voted that they wanted to "re-certify" the election with a different slate of electors? Which?
Not seeing where Trump asked to be appointed? He wanted contested slates of electors to be sent back to the legislatures to be determined which truly was the choice of the legislature.

Let's just ignore the other parts not in red that heavily imply Donny was Donny's #1 choice to be president . He is a self serving narcissist who needs to go out to pasture before he torpedoes the GOP's chances in 2024. Hell at this point I would just about bet on Donny loosing the primary to Desantis and then running third party essentially handing the election to the Dems.

But ... but ... lots of Libertarian leaning INGOistas tell me that voting third party is good and doesn't affect the election outcome

Is it only bad if Trump does it? And I thought we were against the government picking winners. Why on earth would we trust the GOPe to choose our candidate for us?

If DeSantis gets the nod, it will be the old fashioned way. He will have to earn it

Which the joint session of Congress did not, and clearly was not going to, vote to do so.

So, Trump wanted Pence to act unilaterally, and unconstitutionally. Because, :crying::crying::crying:, he had lost under the existing rules, so change the rules all had agreed to, AND HE HAD SWORN AN OATH TO UPHOLD, for his desired outcome.

12th Amendment... The President of the Senate's (Pence's) only role is to open and count the electors ballots. He presides, he does not "rule".

I think the first thing to recognize is the GOP, as a whole, hasn't been able to walk and chew gum at the same time for quite some time now.
Secondly, if Trump is going to run in 2024, he needs to drop the personal attacks because that is what the mainstream media will continually focus on, and it drives the milk toast voters to the other side. I think if he focuses on and drives home his MAGA message, people who voted for him in 2016 will gravitate back to him.
Getting bogged down in these school yard pi***ng matches, whether it is Trump or someone else is a distraction from what we need from a candidate which is a clear and distinct vision on the direction of this country.

Well. Let’s not get crazy. If it’s a choice between a megalomaniacal blowhard cult leader, porn star ****ing, sore loser extraordinaire, versus a bat **** crazy communist loving, kid ****ing, racist bag of ****, nation destroying pedo, I guess I’m stuck with voting for the porn star ****er. At least he’s America-first.
In that case, I would vote third party or write-in a protest vote.

I've held my nose on many a vote in the past 40 years, but a candidate that wipes their *** with the constitution? Nope!

Not a fan at all of Trump doing this but hes going to do what he wants to do. I think this will turn a lot of people off.

It solidified my vote for DeSantis in the primary if he runs. IMO DeSantis is a true conservative. Trump is not, but he does seem to want America strong instead of where it is today.
