I thought I would miss Trump these four years while he was taking a break...

But every day on YouTube, no matter what was going on the world, I'd see the clips and headlines from CNN, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, MSNBC, PBS et al....blaring across the screen of my ROKU enhanced boomerific TV......

"TRUMP!!!! WE GOT HIM THIS TIME!!!!!", "ON TO JAIL FOR YOU TRUMP!!!!"( along with terrible, terrible puns) and our betters from the hallowed halls of the coastal cities declared it to be so....

Rumors are that celebrity's are planning to go to Canada again....

Other than the economy sucking, small businesses folding, along with wars and rumors of wars...it's almost like he never left....

He's going to be president again.....imho....and I am not gonna lie....Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise I'll be here to see it....

    I can't wait....

Is the key difference the word "support" and that Trump was technically correct in saying that he never took an oath to "support" the Constitution and was thus not required to "support" it for the purposes of the motion? Is that the argument?
    How?

    Article VI, paragraph 3.

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

I'm squinting really hard but I don't see the word "president" in there anywhere. Unless you're saying that "executive" (not capitalized) includes the President.

If Trump is re-elected, and I hope he will be cause I can't wait to see "The Revenge Tour 2024", I think the best thing we could do for him, and the nation, is buy him a thesaurus.

I guess he was just too busy making millions to learn many adjectives or adverbs.

    Yes, Executive includes the President.

See Constitution of the United States, Article II Section 1

"The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America..."

I think the other side of the argument is that the Chief Executive (POTUS) is not an officer therefore he is not subject to the 14th amendment Section III because he was not an 'officer' of the US government.

I read most of these posts and am still amazed. The Trump bashing that goes on. Realistically, he’s our best bet at this time; who else is there?

I wonder how many people who bash, bring out disappointments, feel he’s not perfect enough, has made some bad decisions; I wonder how perfect they are for their jobs. Was anyone hired because they were a prefect individual or were they the best qualified at that time?

Trump isn’t perfect but he’s the best we have at this time. Instead of bashing we should be supporting, emphasizing the good and building him up. People read the negative and they do (can) impact an opinion enough vote against him. Even though people hate socialism and the current agenda, they will vote against Trump because of threads like this. Y’all are building up the opinions of those on the line who can go either way and as a result, our side can lose…and lose big.

All elections are important but this one is extremely important, it can easily determine this country’s future. It’s NOT cool to destroy the person who can literally help us the most. Not now, not ever. Stop the tearing down and start building up.

The guy has a high likelihood of felonies, is bleeding campaign cash to (bad) lawyers, is not recommended by the majority of his former cabinet, blatantly lies a lot, won't debate his own party, bashes his own party leaders, and is clearly toxic to the middle of the country. His brand lost in 2018, 2020, and 2022. He clearly had no control over his own DoJ. His message in 2024 is all over the place and primarily revenge. He's also quite old and shot his own campaign in the foot with bad debates, covid right before the election, and then spread lies non-stop after he clearly lost.

But hey- best option we got! Can't possibly question that!

That will flush out the TDS in a hurry. Why are self described conservatives/republicans spouting the NYT democrat line?

The guy has a high likelihood of felonies
If he has felonies why have they not charged him and not the trumped up crap they have?

, is bleeding campaign cash to (bad) lawyers,
Funny thing happened on the way to the presidency, Trump did not have to spend any money advertising. The opposition lawfare is driving Trump up in the polls.

is not recommended by the majority of his former cabinet,
I doubt he would recommend them, so it is a draw. You fail to recognize that America First is not liked by many republicans, some of which took positions in the Trump administration for personal advancement or sabotage.

won't debate his own party, bashes his own party leaders
Why debate those that have no chance. Do you believe the party has supported Trump the same as other presidents? Heck no they have not and you are the odd man out here if you do not believe the party needs an overhaul…

, and is clearly toxic to the middle of the country.
    Not showing in the polling…

His brand lost in 2018, 2020, and 2022.
Not if you look at the endorsement list. Trump has about an 80% success rate. I posted it for you before. You are believing cherry picked data.

He clearly had no control over his own DoJ.
He had no control of the DOJ during his term, in fact it was actually adversarial in that they were attacking Trump before the election and stepped it up after.

His message in 2024 is all over the place and primarily revenge.
Maybe you should adjust your antenna or you are not really an America First supporter. Many do want revenge for many things.

He's also quite old and shot his own campaign in the foot with bad debates, covid right before the election, and then spread lies non-stop after he clearly lost.
He sure was a terrible candidate in 2020, so bad that is the first presidential incumbent to increase his vote totals and he also won all 16 major bellwether’s that have been right for decades.
