I know I have read that something is a suitable sedative for Dogs, a cold medicine???

We have a 30 pound mutt, Daisey that is a PAIN to trim her nails. Rather than take her to the vet, is there a sedative I can buy to calm her down???

It's amazing how strong a 30 pound dog can be when she is freaking out...
