No battery in it, it was stored away.
Usually you use it without the over-ride key but you still have something that looks like a key to place in the key hole.

Also there could be armed guards and and booby traps triggered by lasers.

I'm actually putting some back out of each paycheck for a gun for my fiancee and then a rifle for myself. Having two jobs that pay on alternate weeks is absolutely awesome!
