Gooooood evening INGO. 12 1/2 hours on the road today and my A** feels it.
That is a nice drive, heya Sam
Oh, I just noticed the new thread smell, cool.
In my Dad's family, there were 4 that fought in WW2 and then another 2 in Korea. All the men went in the family.
It's next to his pants. No it already smells in here!! TWB isn't house broke yet!! now what did I do with that rolled up news paper!!
He lived though it!! He won three bronze stars in WWII, He came home moved up here to Michigan with my Dad his brother! and married but never had any kids, my Dad died when I was 18 he kinda stepped right in! He carried a BAR or a Browning .30 cal all across Europe, he landed on D-Day and went all the way to Berlin, at 74 he could have whooped about anybody! he had arms like you wouldn't believe! but then again he lugged some heavy weapons all across Europe! He was a remarkable man!! and is greatly missed!
And thats another thing!!!!
WOW.
I met a US WW2 veteran in South Bend some years ago.
I dont remember why he approached me but when he heard my accent he asked if I was from France.
He was happy to learn that I was indeed French and he started to tell me about his time in France during WW2 and told me about the different cities he visited.
I think he was very happy to meet someone who was thankful for his service.
I was just as happy to meet him.I have seen thousands of US graves in many cemeteries across France, but it was the first time I actually met a veteran who made it back to his country.
