Wanna try out my new predator call?I am thinking that I am either going to have to get a dog or a couple of llamas. The dog can be more versatile, but it is a challenge finding the right one without breaking the bank. It is amazing how rare a creature the good old farm dog has become! It seems like you get your choice between something of mixed heritage that isn't good for anything, unlike its predecessors which, while lacking a pedigree, could understand the difference between what belongs on the farm and what doesn't, or you can spend a fortune on a trained dog. The additional problem here is that until we get some other things sorted out (i.e, my aunt taking grandma home with her followed up with my permanent relocation) I have the additional challenge that grandma would ruin the best and most expensively trained of dogs. She has dementia and lacks enough mind to wrap around the concept that you don't make a pet out of a guard dog.
Llamas, on the other hand, are adequate against coyotes, use the same feed as alpacas, and come with the disadvantages of being unable to cross fences and not suitable to roam outside the fences.
That's how the neighbor across the state line does it. He's shot quite a few.Wanna try out my new predator call?
