USW is pretty much fighting for it's life.
My griever was in Pittsburgh for negotiations, and I was less than thrilled with the substitute.
So I took a plea bargain.
    5 days off
Good behavior for 6 months to remove it from my record.
If I went to arbitration, with an arbitrator that's never been in a mill, it would be 5 days off, stay on the record, next offense would be fireable.

Sounds like my union. Total *****'s

All you have to do is say it's un safe. They either send you home with pay or if they deem it wasn't un safe your day off without pay is your punishment. They can't fight the Un safe card.

    I did say it.
They had to big security dudes escort me to medical for a drop.
Searched my locker and car for weapons, locked me out.
Day of my hearing, they threw obstacles up to try to keep me out of the plant.
Company witnesses included foreman that were not in the building, and one that was at home.
The Steel Producing Area Manager himself attended.
My first hearing took all day.

    edit, two security dudes
    not to security dudes.

Nope......he may be an a$$ but the relief is the issue. Right to the source.
But hey, I am a bully.....:):

Steel Pourer runs 3 men to a shift.
Spend one heat working the mold on 109 floot.
Spend one heat working the tundish on 121 floor.
Spend one heat in the cool down room (break room), unless there is auxiliary work.

They often run 2 men, skipping the break.
    They did it before.
They could have did it for him.
    But they didn't.

Where was the infamous Safe Team at? I use to call them when it would rain all night and they tried to tap heats with the pits full of water. I had OSHA on speed dial. I didn't **** around with safety.

    I couldn't call anyone.
Security drove me to medical, to my locker, to the gate, to my car.
    No stops.
Simon Rodich was the caster boss that ordered it.

US Steel management will push the limits. They will see how far they can push ya. They threaten me many times. But safety wasn't going to get pushed to the back burners because of lack of management skills.
