    Thing is, no one really knows how long they sit on the shelf before you buy it.

    Mine acted weak after sitting a couple of days last week in the cold. It's on its way out.
    I've always seen dates on the ones I've bought. This one may have a date, but it's down on one side and I can't see it without taking the battery out and I'm trying to avoid that if I can.

    I know they have a way for you to indicate the purchase/install date. The only way I know mine is that it's the factory original.

    Look up Cornish cross meat birds. They grow very quickly. If not butchered early enough, they will actually have heart attacks and die due to their rapid growth/weight. The ones I get are pasture raised locally.
    That's funny. When I hear "Cornish" I automatically think of Cornish game hens, which of course are anything but big!

    So apparently the fire department never got called to the house fire down the road. A real estate agent or appraiser went to evaluate the property to list it and found the pile of ashes. Gotta love it...
