Good question! It's likely that Al Gore created the WeLL as a prototype for his internet thing. Where he found the time between that, discovering the pollution at Love Canal, and being the inspiration for "Love Story," I just don't know.

That sort of story really does embrace the title of this thread. It's truly an extreme and insane position for a government to take.

You don't allow your children to make drastic life-changing decisions that will change them irrevocably against nature and science? We're taking them away.

I think they should take the parents away to the funny farm in situations where they DO allow their kids to make such decisions. They've abdicated their parental rights anyway by allowing their children to make adult decisions (albeit insane adult decisions).

Since the family is at least likely to be middle class, since nobody would have time for transexual bull**** if they were struggling; and that could very well mean the parents have skills - could we maybe set up some mutually acceptable exchange rate where we take their unwanted self-sufficient christians and we give them 1.3 or 1.7 or 2.0 (whatever the exchange rate settles at) unskilled, undocumented asylum-seeker families in compensation?
