I read Bader's autobiography many years ago, and another story he told was about baling out of his fighter plane and coming down minus one of his legs. The people that came to his aid were quite shocked to see him stand up on his one leg and act as though nothing was wrong. What they didn't know was that he had lost a leg in a previous flying accident and lost his artificial leg while existing the aircraft.

Saw a guy yesterday walking down US 30 with droopy pants.
All I could think of was, "That's dedication to your fashion statement".

Well, that and, "What an idiot".

I thought droopy pants were an advertisement that the person was a male prostitute looking for business. Snopes denies that, which means it's probably true. They (Snopes) said the fashion started in prison where inmates are denied belts. I guess droopy pants means you're a convict or a convict wannabe.

    Maybe at first.
I think now it's just trying to be "cool".

And like many things that some people think are "cool", makes no sense.

Then again, when I see pics of me in the 70s, I kinda cringe.

It's the same as a lady wearing a huge winter coat, hat, gloves and boots but wearing a thin pair of leggings.

Pictured: Lt. Colonel, Andrew Tanner/USAF he was shot down around Christmas while dogfighting five Migs. He is credited with four confirmed aerial kills until the fifth one shot him down, Lt Col Tanner avoided capture and assisted a local guerrilla group and was later killed in action with the guerrillas. Very few remember this hero. Today we celebrate the life of Lt. Colonel Andrew Tanner...
