So, the executive committee will pick the candidate and instruct the super delegates to vote for him/her. Just like last time...
Well. Not JUST like last time. This time they’re pretending to be transparent. Last time they didn’t even bother to pretend.

Hubris, my friend. Last time those arrogant bastards thought they not only controlled the board but owned it such that they did not need to make any pretense of conforming to the standards of a free republic and got their asses handed to them as a result. That smackdown put enough caution in them that they are at least going to pretend to be Americans.

"Pretend" Americans. Seems appropriate. They definitely appear to be moving in the direction away from unique American culture and tradition towards a more socialist Euro style which they try to pretend to emulate as American values now.

Trump apparently adding Kim Jong Un to his campaign staff... both jointly stating that Joe Biden is "low IQ"

Not sure how good of a look that is.

I understand Kim has some “baggage” like executing his defense minister with a anti aircraft gun, killing his brother with nerve agent, he may have fed his uncle to a pack of dogs?

I don't think I'd quite say that the election was an asses handed to anyone kind of thing. The margin in MI, WI, FL, and PA was less than 1.5% of the vote, and much lower in a couple of states. Michigan was decided by only 10K people. That made them a virtual tossup. Many things likely contributed to Trump's win, like Comey's antics, Wikileaks revelations about how corrupt the DNC was, the fact that Hillary thought she had it in the bag and didn't bother to campaign much in the swing states. Whatever it was that flipped those 1.5% over to the Trump side, I'm grateful, because Trump > Hillary. But I am mindful of what it could easily have been if some things were played differently.

The 306-232 seems lopsided when looking at the EC totals. But if only 1.5% of the voters in 4 states had voted the other way, the Hildabeast would have won 307 to 231. Just in Michigan, a little over 10K people was the difference on a swing of 16 electoral votes.

I think I've heard the poor, black, sharecropper story in a Steve Martin routine, mixing gay with it must add a whole new dimension.;)

Trump has appointed 112 lifetime federal judgeships with 65 more in the queue. There are 137 federal vacancies.
This is why I voted for Trump. McConnell is reshaping the judiciary for a generation.

As to the election, I really don't see any Democratic candidate winning. IMO, the party is too fractured. You have Die hard Bernie Bros, never another old white guy voters, progressives, socialists and the older Dem base.
I dont think Obama could get elected today.

I'm not so sure. I think for the most part, the whomever the Democrats put up, the will be better received than Clinton ever was. The party will most likely pull together in order to have a chance at beating Trump. None of the Democratic candidates are nearly as polarizing as Clinton. And I think that's true for both sides.

I think you are underestimating how politically shrewd Obama was/is. He recognized that several of his preferred policies were well outside of the mainstream in 2008, possible election losers, and so lied about them in order to get elected in order to subsequently flip and enact them.

You could be right. However I don't know if the progressive wing would allow him to not state his policy positions. But I've been married 4 times , I'm known to make mistakes.

In the current political climate, I'm not sure those would count as liabilities rather than evidence that the candidate can " ... beat Trump at his own game" or something
