About 5am, I woke up to a loud boom and our bedroom door being slammed open. I sit up in bed, shake off the sleep, and try to figure out what is going on. Don't hear anything else. So I grab the bedside gun and flashlight and check on the kids, then clear each room. Nothing.

So what I think happened is this: furnace kicked on, ductwork popped, which scared the cat, who made a mad dash for our bedroom, and shot through the partially open door, running for his life.

Wife says I can't shoot the cat as a home invader because he lives here. Guess I didn't want to sleep in this morning.

I guess you didn't read the fine print in the contract when the cat became part of the household...

The reality is that I want a lot of things but I don't get out to shoot what I already own, so I sold things to try to minimize (and fuel other purchases). At the end of the day, if I ever needed guns in a defensive situation I'd reach for the Austrian Tupperware and those aren't going anywhere!

Sarah, we all have our comfort levels. Things we feel safe relying on. I will never fault being fond of Tupperware if that makes you comfortable.

That I am not fond of that kind of firearm is really nothing in the big picture.

I shelled out some cash for a fancy “wake up light.” It is supposed to imitate a sunset, sunrise, and has a white noise/nature sounds option. I’m very sick of not sleeping and I know that fall/winter is coming and I am horrible at waking up in the dark.

Worst case scenario is it sucks and I send it back to Amazon. :dunno:

My phone has a BRIGHT orange wake up light feature if it's on it's charging stand. It seems to help if it is close and I'm facing toward it but is not bright enough otherwise. Your dedicated light may be better at lighting up the room.

Have you tried things like not having caffeine within several hours of bed, not drinking alcohol, no screentime at least an hour before bed and having a consistent bedtime with something to do to "wind you down" prior to bed? These things, in combination, have helped me, at least somewhat. I stop drinking caffeine at noon, rarely drink alcohol any more, try to stop screentime an hour or two before bed and read for 20 - 30 minutes before turning out the light. I sleep better than I had prior to doing these things. I also use a fan on low next to the bed to drown out noises that could wake me that creates white noise. I still have a problem waking up at least a couple times a night and I normally don't sleep longer than 6 - 7 hours, but that's better than before.

I could not ID this car until I looked at the badge on the back. This one doesn't owe the owner anything. Looks like he got his moneys worth out of it

    Says Escort on the back.

Base coat/clear coat finishes, the early days. Then there was GM's "primer, we don't need no stinkin primer, paint the E-coat."

I can say that I shoot guns every day that are over 100 years old. Maybe in the future we'll be able to say that about Glocks, but today is not that day.:)
