Getting my feet wet into the 1911 platform. Starting with a $400 RI 1911 GI i picked up out of the classifieds so if i screw it up no big deal.

Is that a houge grip cut down and stuck on for the front finger grooves or is that one whole piece with the panels integrated? Id like to do something similar with mine but im machining custom panels out of aluminum.
