Dr. Sowell might not necessarily be “Pro” Trump but it appears he is “Pro” policy results.

That is a leg up on his position concerning Obama of which he was niether “Pro” Obama or pro policy.

This just illustrates the point that I have been trying to make all along and that is people from all races can choose to support Trump’s policies even if they disagree with character issues and shouldn’t be denigrated for making that choice.

My son went to the Trump rally in Cincinnati tonight. He said that it was yuge! He parked across the river and had to walk over. Then, there was a downpour, but he enjoyed himself.

When I see those yuuge rallies for Trump I see it as a testimony of just how whacked out the Democrat party has become.

It makes them want to support Trump and his policies even more every time they hear Democrats speak with thier hard leftist proposals for the future of this country.

I don’t see it as a racist thing either as much as I see at it as more of a resounding rejection of the absolute lunacy coming from the left that fuels such big gatherings in support for Trump even with his own short comings.

I'm not sure, I don't think folks going to a Trump rally would vote for even the most moderate Democrat. I think they are red team blue team own the lib or they are cult of personality. If there were, say former Obama voters there, would they have to admit there was policy overlap between the two? Rhetoric overlap?

It’s more than just a cult of personality. The way I see it as the reason we even have a guy like Trump as POTUS is due to the Democrat hard leftist policies and the lack of will on the part of the establishment GOP to take it to them.

Trump and his personality represents a big boisterous voice in opposition.

It’s more like a big f-u to the leftist Democrats and the establishment Republicans telling them that we are tired of taking crap from you and his rallies are a way of showing that we’re still here in numbers and we’re not going anywhere.

Trump brought that to a head.

I can buy that. Though Ironically I'm not sure socialist Bernie Sanders wouldn't have had a better shot at beating Trump than more moderate Clinton had...

We got Trump because the Democrats ran Clinton.

Clinton represents everything that people rightfully hate about our government...the greed, the entitlement, the lying, the aggrandizing selfishness and absurdity of the entire racket. In that light, in 2016, Trump was the less reprehensible choice...barely.

Trump the candidate railed against the excess and largess of the executive. He spoke with the voice of a populist. Trump the president plays golf at his own resort and sticks taxpayers with the bill...when he's not napping his workdays away or tweeting nonsense from bed.

Trump's rallies are disgusting. The cult of the elite is disgusting. The American Federal system is careening toward authoritarian oligarchy, and the Trump presidency serves as evidence of its hastening, not its decline.

Trump is your Nero. Applaud your emperor.

*ETA: I mean the "royal you", not you specifically KG. I'm not trying to make some kind of personal beef with you here, lol.

Spent some time recently with extended family. Several of them are former Trump supporters. They can't really articulate much in terms of policy, but mostly reflect that he's a just a jerk. Their support was grounded in the obscure concept of making America great, but - their words - he just tries to divide us.

I won't disagree with much of this, but of all the people who have a chance at the democratic nomination, who will be any better than Clinton? Leadership wants a candidate that brings all those bad things to the table with them, because that's what keeps them in power and makes money for them.

That's not misfortune, that's reaping the fruits of your labor.

You work for decades to create a culture of entitlement, which leads to a culture of crime, and you get robbed. That's only logical.

What isn't logical is creating a culture of entitlement, saying it has nothing to do with crime, and then wondering how in the world it is that your palatial estate was robbed when everyone around you is starving.

I don't know much about the positions of Rep Cummings. Can you show me where he has worked at creating a culture of entitlement and how that has defaulted into crime, based on his work?

You don't understand - Trump critics "cannot possibly read his mind" even when he says what's on his mind and acts in ways consistent with what he says.

But, Trump supporters can glean all they need to know about a politician from what party he or she belongs to.

Welcome to 2020, which will seem a whole lot like 2016.
