Pelosi wants to deny (but has not rescinded the invitation) Trump's use of the Presidential bully-pulpit at the State of the Union address. Lol!

Update: House majority leader Steny Hoyer indicated the "The State of the Union is off". Looking forward to having Trump give the SOTU directly from the Oval Office. Hoyer/Pelosi and company will just have to watch it online with the general public.

    Good.
Then I don't have to watch people clap or frown.

Oh, I dunno. the media will probably show Pelosi and Chuckie grimacing and frowning throughout using split screens.

Has this ever happened in the past? A Speaker from the oppo party refusing to invite the sitting President to give the State of The Union from the House Chamber? Maybe he should do it fro the Senate. :)

The Pres has only been giving the State of the Union as a speech since about 1903 or so (Wilson). Roosevelt started the current "tradition". It has turned into quite the spectacle, thanks to radio and TV. Now, it is more the the general public, than for Congress.

Simple solution, just go over to the Senate chambers and address the Senators. Drop an envelope with the written report in the mail to the House of Representatives. Then Pelosi misses out on her camera time and the ability to sit behind Trump and make funny faces.

AOC is all for a 70% marginal income tax rate for income over $10 million. I'm opposed on basic principal (govt should never have more of a right to a person's money than that person), but apparently, according to polls, many are ok with it. Apparently, they don't buy lottery tickets in New York:

Say a lottery jackpot of $400-500 Million that yields a $210 Million lump sum. NY would have a 53% combined tax rate on the first $10 Million and an (70+13) 83% rate on the remaining $200 Million.

You would get: $38.7 Million while the federal and state governments would get $171.3 Million.

Some organization with credibility with the non-ideological left and independents needs to get out the word that that 70% won't be nearly enough. Because the truly wealthy have many strategies to reduce and shift their tax burden, the estimated additional tax revenues would only be at best $720 billion. The price tag for single payer, free college and student loan forgiveness is north of $40 trillion (over ten years). That's a doubling of current tax revenues

People should have their noses rubbed in the truth about where that extra revenue would come from

Hint:It won't be just from the 'rich' (which too many define simply as 'has more than I do')

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too.

Plus, unless something changed overnight that I missed, the MSM is now saying that Pelosi basically said "no" to the SOTU. That wasn't in the letter that was released yesterday. Instead, it was a watered down "oh this looks bad" polemic.
