:coffee: never mixes well with race. Leave it alone. Give me my :coffee: as I really do not care what your opinion on the matter is.

This is a conversation that should happen when asked.

"Sir, would you like to try our Fair Trade blend today?"
    "Uh... sure."
"You know who didn't get a fair trade, though?"
    "..."
    "Native Americans."

    Bad idea.

However, I work at a big place with lots of cultures. Just yesterday I was talking with a muslim about halal butchering. It started because of where he lived and a good steak place I knew about. I asked if he had any dietary preferences. He said, "yeah, kinda like kosher". I knew by his name, it was probably halal, so I asked. I then asked, how much does it frustrate you to try to explain to people what your needs are using a jewish belief. He'd never thought of it that way, and we both had a good laugh. I also work with a lot of Indian and Chinese. I'm not trying to improve WASP / (insert here) relations. I'm curious about their culture, and will let them be. No need to improve the relations. No one is going to force me to live my life their way, or even accept what they do. I just have to accept they have the freedom to do it.

As an animal lover, I have a serious problem with halal butchering. What that means to me? I won't buy halal meats.... no more, no less.

Oh brother! I don't care what you think about "race" when I buy coffee. I don't care that your napkins are made of 100% recycled paper when I buy your hamburgers. I don't care how many cause d'celebre you waste your resources on when I buy your products. I just want the highest quality at the best possible price possible. All that other "stuff" does not add value to me and often times reduces the value of your product/service in my eyes.

When did it become standard for every business to blab about culture? I don't care what the corporate folks or their underlings think about anything. I'm trading money for a good or service, and the only thing espousing any viewpoint about anything else besides that product/service is going to do is make me want to take my money elsewhere.

Maybe this is why they went with the "Please dont bring your guns here" thing, armed people jacked up on overpriced caffeine being forced to hear someones view on race...could be problematic

Can I still get a black coffee without being judged?

Why on earth would I want to chat with a barista about much of anything, especially something touchy?

Had an idea.... maybe we should write "#GunsSaveLives" on our cups and spark a conversation.

As a resident troll, here's what I think.
if I have to buy an over roasted, overpriced cup of java in order to discuss 'race' with Baristas, I'm prepared to do it. I'm always open to a good discussion anytime, anywhere. You don't have to respond. Maybe they are having the conversation that everyone says Americans need to have. YEPV

    P= probably

Marketing stunt. They'll see something shiny in a few days and move on.

All in all, don't care one way or the other.
