    Browning hi power for $400?

6944s are low production but that doesn’t always mean high value.

I’m not a huge fan of DAO so the hi power sounds like a deal.

6944 had a deep scratch inside the barrel crown. Doesnt look like it was babied. Barrel was also shot out. The hi power looked brand new.

Finally got into the 3rd Gen club. I was looking for a 3913/3914 or a 457, but I found this little jewel for $299 delivered. Not a steal but, it's like new and came with 2 mags and a set of Hogue grips. I'll oil it up and step out back today and run it through it's paces. If everything works as expected, it will be my EDC from now on. I'm happy:rockwoot:

I’ve only bought one gun there. I recall it being a process.

It is. But worth it. Funny thinking tge previous owner only got paid $210 for it. There was a guy selling a jp sauer pistol. I was trying to eavesdrop maybe catch him outside and offer him a better deal. But alas no clue what it even was lol

Finally got to shoot the new 908 this morning. It was a balmy 23'F with a steady wind to keep the eyes watering:thumbsup:. I shot a little over 100 rounds of various brands and loads with absolutely ZERO issues. To finish off, I loaded up a magazine with Federal 147gr HST's and shot a fresh target off hand at 10 yards. Still accurate and flawless even when cold and dirty. I'm impressed with the accuracy (the flier was definitely me and I knew when I squeezed the trigger). Most of my compacts are more accurate with 124gr than 147gr, but I'm more than happy with this setup. The 908 has earned it position as my new carry gun when I want something thinner than my PCR. I'm more than happy:rockwoot:

    1. I'd buy one, but they will be sold before I can get there: I've been beat by 15 minutes before for a CZ P-01 for $350.
    2. He sells his used guns right: they don't last long.
    3. I've bought a few in the past 1.5 yrs. from him: Chris, the owner is a stellar guy!

After doing some research on the 5903 with the lighter alloy frame vs the heavier model that wasn't an alloy (forget model #),
I'm going to pass pursuing it.
There were some reports of cracking of frame in some police dept. due to the lighter metal, etc.
I have my Ruger Officer 1911, 9mm (only 8 round) and Ruger P95 (15 round) to comfort my loss. :dunno:

5906 is the steel frame. The bottom of the chart that I posted in your RAMI - PCR thread explains the numbering system.

By lighter, you mean slightly less heavy. “Light” 3rd gen Smiths don’t exist. Lol

While I prefer the steel frame, cracked frames are not a common occurrence. Used and surplus guns require a little more inspection and/or reliance upon the honesty of the seller.
