Does anyone find it strange that the lights are still on, internet is still working, and we have all these social media posts from the ground?
Not really. Even though Ukraine is smaller than Russia, it still has reasonable capabilities to protect itself and it's infrastructure.

I could see Russia being in quite the predicament if they get lured into an insurgency trap. It's one thing to fight a conventional ware; it's another to fight an asymmetric war in which a large chunk of the world powers are openly supplying the people actually fighting in the insurgency. Plus a significant number of Russian troops are conscripts who have no idea why they're there or what their objective is so moral is running pretty low. If the Ukrainians lure enough of Russia's forces deep into Ukraine then contsatny hit their supply lines, Russian troops will find it difficult to carry on. Of course, this relies on the current Ukrainian government staying in power and defensive moral staying high.

Well that, and I haven't seen anything like a strategic bombing campaign. There have been bombers in use, but all reports seem to indicate cruise missile launches. I haven't seen any evidence of them doing massed heavy bombing runs.

You can't shut down the internet when it comes from space.

If you shut down the electric the internet soon follows.

The Russians wanted to take the country virtually intact so that they could install a puppet government that would be acceptable to the people. Destroy their infrastructure and they might not put up with a puppet regime. As for the social media, thank Elon Musk for turning on enough satellites to keep them online. Again, try to keep the people as happy as possible as you try to assimilate their country.

Yeah. What happened to the cyber attacks that were predicted?

Those require ground dishes and equipment to use.

It isn't magic, it has to be shipped in and placed in a relatively stable area with a clear view of the sky.

    In the country, hopefully.
Yeah some probably do, if you had very limited electric is it going to be used for Twitter? Most people have generators and solar as a supplement or backup not a replacement.

And shutting down the grid also kills cell towers.
C’mon man, it’s not like they’re in fear for their lives and might need to ration gas. We need this information!!!

I assume for some politicians and journalists on the ground it's more important to use Twitter than to cook a warm meal.

A lot of people also need social media to communicate with loved ones.
