    Gunz and caffeine don't mix.

McDees coffee tastes way better than DD's.
I should know 'cause I'm an eggspurt.
    Happiness is a warm gun.

McD's coffee is good, but so is the brew at DD. I will take either one over the "Daily Special" brew at SBs. The SB stuff is only fit to drink after it is fixed up with cream/sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin, mint or some other violation of all that the coffee gods honor!

I sit @ the right hand of those gods.

SB (aka Charbucks) use to have a Sumatra blend that blew me away. Their lighter roasts are good, but not being a coffee snob, McDees wins on flavor/price. I've tried to get that flavor from different Sumatra beans with home roasts, but was never successful. Before SB's and Peets, you'd have to go to Rome to get a good cup of Joe. Hmmmm...maybe I am a snob....

Has local LE informed SB that they will not respond to calls unless a verified manager gets on the phone, gives positive ID, and faxes a 'permission to enter' slip?

Otherwise it appears the ossifers would have to arrest themselves for trespassing the moment they entered the establishment.

The manager has an agenda that corporate would not appreciate, since it is clearly out of line with their stated position. Pink slip?

When you give a small minded, self centered ego maniac any power over those around them this is the result.

My WAG is that if said manager is canned, she will pull a discrimination suit out of her back pocket. It's good to be (insert protected group here) in America!

I don't usuallly OC unless I am hunting. I CC when I do carry and I CC in the Starbucks on Main St in Greenwood on a pretty regular basis. They don't know I have a firearm, and I don't bother telling them. We all get along just fine.

BTW...a medium bold black coffee is $2.30 and it is delicious. If the person in front of me orders a "skinny, frappe, light mocha with extra chai, hold the granola" I make my dissatisfaction known by uttering the words "this ain't a damned Dairy Queen".

    Coffee black...never disappoints.

And a word about Dunkin...I do not like their coffee and I don't eat doughnuts, I am too fat already.

So if you were cc ing how did they know you had a weapon? Just for fun, I'd go there unarmed, and have them call the cops on you. Free SB coffee for life is way better than DD

Why would he get free Starbucks for life? He has been trespassed without getting LE involved. Next time, it will be an officer either telling him to leave or escorting him out. An individual who is in charge of the property has the authority to trespass another individual due to whatever they see fit, unless they are trespassing someone due to the being a "protected class." Then it's discrimination. If she calls the cops, says he's carrying a gun and she has asked him before to never set foot on the property, it does not matter if he is or isn't carrying a gun. Once he has been trespassed, the firearm becomes a moot point and it's 100% trespass issue.

He would likely be escorted from the property, told by LE to never return, next time would be an arrest. He would then have to contact Starbucks corporate and they would decide whether to lift the trespass order or not.

    IANALAIDSAAHILN, just my opinion.

Imagine you own a family restaurant. Your specialty is tenderloins the size of manhole covers (this is, afterall, Indiana). A small percentage of your customers are wearing t-shirts with rainbow logos and a few of the ladies are kind of brawny and have their hair cut a little short but, hey, they're friendly, good tippers, the guys are just FABULOUS dressers and the ladies help you lug out the 5 gallon buckets of used oil from the grill. A local reporter interviews you about your restaurant and asks about your policy on serving gays. You tell her you don't care one way or the other - you just serve food. A local gay internet forum picks up on this and decides since your restaurant is so supportive of their cause they're going to support you back. The men start showing up in leather chaps and dog collars and making out in the booths. The ladies have a Friday night car show in your parking lot, filling it with Suburus. Your regular customers with small children start to complain. It's not that they're anti-gay, they just want to eat without the provocative show. They came for the manhole cover sized tenderloins, not political theater. You finally have to put a sign on the door saying "no assless chaps" and asking the ladies not to wear tank tops if they aren't going to shave their arm pits. The local gay forum explodes with vitriol about what a bigotted homophobe you are. People who open carried long guns to Starbucks are like the militant queers of our cause.

This is why Starbucks has had to take the decision to have a passive ban on firearms. People had to go to the extreme to try and goad our enemies. Unfortunately, our ox got gored in the ensuing melee. Those of us who normally carry a sidearm, (OC or CC) got hosed. All Starbucks wanted to do was sell coffee and they got pulled into a pissing match between elements of the gun community and the antis. In the end, due to the actions of a few on our side, the antis won the debate. No matter what some people might say, carrying an AR around is NOT the norm. This is not Israel and we aren't at war. We want to win the battle for hearts and minds? Take the sidearm, leave the AR. I, for one am not going to hold this against Starbucks. I don't go there anything approaching frequently, but when I do I have always enjoyed the product and the service. Even when I was carrying. There are ways of making a statement. Some people chose poorly and we all are paying the price for it now.

I'm really struggling with this story since I frequent this particular SB after eating at the Applebee's across the street and carry there regularly (as I do everywhere). I also know of a Lawrence LEO who also comes in daily.

Maybe an isolated incident, or extenuating circumstances ?

    First of all, **** Starbucks.

second, this is why I no longer OC and haven't for a while. What the sheeple don't know, won't hurt or spook them.

Note to self: Boycot Starbucks. Added to my list
Would they be more likely to be "spooked" by the sight of an open carried handgun, or by discovering your hidden gun?

The photos are old news at this point. They depict behaviors the OP did NOT engage in, so they're not relevant to a manager exceeding her authoritay and booting him on suspicion of carrying concealed (and I don't think he was CC his AR?). Whether this particular event affects SB's bottom line or not, it was clearly inappropriate, and certainly a mis-statement of corporate policy.

Ass-hattery by other folks (one photo is from Kuwait in 2005, BTW) does not justify ass-hattery directed at third-parties, who aren't even openly carrying.

You should not justify the manager's behavior. Unless you think such behavior is justifiable...
