A global public health emergency? 18000 cases. Maybe a handful of deaths. 98% are men who have sex with other men. How is it an emergency that requires some special response? Not that any deaths are dismissable. But calling it a global health emergency? I mean. c'mon. There is a behavior identified that seems to be very highly correlated with the spread. Maybe disengaging from that behavior at least temporarily could stop it. Maybe... 15 days to slow the spread? :dunno:

Anyone remember that old commercial (Prell shampoo maybe) "she told to friends, and they told two friends and so on, and so on. Except this is, he ____ seven strangers, and the _______ seven strangers, and so on, and so on. How DARE we stigmatize that behavior

Part of declaring an emergency is getting the authority to do things one normally can't do, like use the smallpox vaccine to combat monkeypox.

Probably a non sequitur, but remember when AIDS first started to become popular around 1980? The CDC, WHO, and other "experts" were puzzled that the preponderance of cases seemed to be within two population groups: gay men, and Hatians.

Which led to the joke: what's the worst thing about getting AIDS? Trying to convince your mom that you're Hatian.

Bishop, GOP Leaders Demand CDC Stop Peddling LGBT Grooming Dogma to Kids

'It is deeply concerning that U.S. taxpayer dollars are being used to promote a website that allegedly engages in grooming behavior

“Directing children to access online chatrooms that discuss sex, polyamorous relationships, white privilege, gender reassignment surgeries and LGBT activism is not among its many functions,” CDC chief Rochelle Walensky was informed about her department’s duties in a scathing letter written by Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C.

“Yet, recent reports indicate that under your leadership, the CDC is promoting a website that appears to groom children. This is unconscionable,” stated the letter, which was endorsed and backed by Congressional GOP leaders. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar, Mary Miller, Andy Biggs, Chip Roy, and Jody Hice.

Even more disturbing, Q Chat conflates topics like “Gender Affirmation Surgeries,” “Drag Culture 101” and “Having Multiple Genders,” with “more innocuous topics that may appeal to children, including Q Chats regarding Pokémon, Star Wars, music, and Pets.”

“The interspersion of these child-friendly topics with conversations of a mature nature is cause for greater concern, not less,” Bishop and the GOP Congressional leaders wrote in the letter to the CDC’s chief.

Can they put a mask on it? Maybe a government mandated requirement to mask it up?

Its all about changing the definition with this administration too.

Definition of Recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP.

White house refuses to acknowledge that we are in a recession even though this is the 2nd consecutive negative quarter. "We are not in a recession. Thats not what a recession is."
