In "my day", parents gave you the paddle again when you got home.
Nowadays, they threaten to sue. Their little "precious" could never have done such a thing (even if theirs video proof)

When I was "on the road" as a LEO, I was seeing the beginning of this breakdown. Parents refused to believe that their darling little angels could possibly have done what the big, mean, lying cops said.

As with you, had I gotten in trouble at school or with LE, there would have been additional, and more severe, consequences at home.
