The town in question is on the outskirts of Chicago.... Most would not consider the area "sleepy", which is another highlight of their incompetence.

Someone down the street probably sighed seeing them go to that house, and then laughed while continuing to package huge piles of narcotics.

As I said, I'm not overly familar with the geography of your state. I know a few of the cities and towns -- Indy of course, Terre Haute, Gary (which I understand is quite the hellhole), E-ville. I'm simply saying a SWAT raid netting just over 2 ounces of a mostly benign substance seems like both overkill and a very poor allocation of resources. In your state it may well legally be considered enough to carry an "intent to distribute" case. I can tell you though, in all honesty, two ounces is by no means a saleable amount of marijuana. That's personal possession through and through.

I am well aware that the statutes pertaining to possession of marijuana in our respective states are leagues apart. Even so, I maintain my position that the operation was a poor allocation of resources. If the area is in fact as bad as you say, why choose such a small-time operation? Sure, maybe they didn't have enough actionable information to move on someone else. If they had reasonable suspicion this was in fact a sale operation, why not wait until they could make a more substantial arrest and file heavier charges?

Also, I'll engage the google-fu, but if someone could link me to the relevant ICs for possession of doobage, I'd like to read them.
