Wife got tired of me threatening to make chili all week.

Returned from the vet and park outing to find she has a batch stirred up and cornbread in the oven.
Almost ready.

Man, I love it when she's home!

I would faint dead away if Susan ever cooked something. (besides peanut brittle, which she's very good at)

dogs are walked, almost under dressed, just a tee shirt and a long sleeved light shirt, not bad once we turned back and I had warmed up. the dogs were pissy about a lack of sniffing to start with

I love peanut brittle!
Wife won't even try to make it. She excels at many other confections, though. Creative!

My brittle is inconsistent and sometimes doesn't crisp up right.

My mom keeps us supplied with fresh Texas pecans, though. I usually make pecan brittle.

She shaves a little Gulf Wax into hers at the end, just before adding the baking soda to foam it. Don't know if that's what helps crisp it, but it makes it not stick to your teeth.
