When my Dad passed a few years ago, the funeral home handled everything. The Army sent out a couple of fresh-faced enlisted men to do the flag ceremony graveside and the local American Legion did a "three-volley salute". My Dad was not a member, but they wanted to honor him anyway. They gave my Mom the brass which she keeps in a case with the flag.I forgot to mention...
The DoD (Dept of Defense) has a ceremony. They can send someone out if they have anyone available.
I think the funeral home should know how to get hold of them.
Then the American Legion and/or Veteran's of Foreign Wars have their own ceremonies.
As with the DoD, it depends on if that Post has enough volunteers.
I’ve also heard they put the brass in the flag once they are done folding it. They did on my dad’s flag. When my Dad passed a few years ago, the funeral home handled everything.
