I coach Olympic style fencing

That might be fun

But Olympic style fencing is a legitimate marshal art. We don't use balloons. Occasionally I get a buffoon. But never a balloon.

One of my 'kids' won the Gold medal in the USA College Fencing Club Championships, I coached her at U of Minnesota, another won Silver, and I coached her at Purdue University.

My adopted daughter won Gold in the ACC Individual and Team events. She also is a 2 time winner in the NCAA Collegiate Fencing Championships. She has also beat at least 1 or 2 Team USA Olympians and National USA Team members. 3 solid gold rings, 2 NCAA trophies on my bookshelf, plus an USA Fencing "A" medal. She fenced Varsity at Notre Dame, the 13 time NCAA Gold Medal team, and top USA fencing team in the nation.

If you want to bring your kid/grandkid to me (aged 10+) I'm happy to start their journey. We have our next beginner class starting in February. Our club is located in St John, IN. Either sword or gun, I'm good with that. Not star wars. Not ninja stuff. Serious athletic competition.

I coach at the Junior Olympics, USA National Championships, Collegiate Fencing Club Championships, and other events. Mostly I love to get beginners to love the sport.

My goal is to spread self defense.

I used to coach adult IDPA shooters. But now I'm exclusively coaching fencing. It's a serious martial art. I'd rather a kid learn to defend themself than be a victim. The mindset is the key.

Get the mind to believe in its own abilities and strengths, the mind and the body are unstoppable.

3 kids below are mine. All gold medalists.

I coached the boy in a dozen high school events, and also in the National Junior Olympic in Denver. He is now nationally ranked as a "D" rated fencer (which is damn good). The girls are both new, both gold medalists in the high school events. Neither are nationally ranked (yet). Both are on the trajectory to achieve national rankings and potential NCAA scholarships.

Hah, we have members who are in their 70's and actually are competitive.

I go out to Hammond frequently to visit my brother. A few weeks back they finished the road work on 80/94. I must say traffic is moving pretty good. This past Tuesday my wife and I went to visit him. She got a gift certificate for Northwood Falls restaurant in St. John. So we drove there for lunch after our visit. Holy s**t, the traffic congestion going down 41 is nuts. Have not been down that way in a long time. It will be a long time before I go over there again.

Grew up on US 30 by Iliana Speedway. Pre drivers license we routinely rode our bikes down US 30 to get to Schererville, Griffith, or wherever we were going. Wouldn’t think of doing that today.

If no one local is interested, I know a guy that is pretty hand-to-mouth that would appreciate it. I collect all brass for him at the range, but don't go out of my way. He's been know to give me reloads with bullets he casts himself from tractor weights.
