I understand it's a necessity to have jurors.

But if you are not at least matching my hourly pay, then I have nothing to give you.

Time is so valuable. You aren't getting a **** from me unless it's $40/hr

I do a little better than that during jury trials.

One thing I noticed during the jury selection process, this time and my prior service: the best and brightest barristers are not becoming county prosecutors.

I'm sure you are worth every penny you're paid Hough. Not necessarily the case with prosecutors.

    Just my observation, YMMV.

My observation is that in many places, the prosecutors that have "it" move into private practice, the federal system or other government service within 5 years. There are, of course, exceptions.

Can you tell us more about said gun bill? I must admit to being ignorant on local actions underway.

    .

The council member from Gary wanted to ban AR-15 sales at the gun shows in Lake County.
Probably more than him, but he put it in the meeting plan.
I think it was even added as a last minute addition, so it wasn't listed on the schedule of stuff for the meeting, it was at the end.
But, the head of the council addressed everyone and told them that State Law prevented them from doing most anything.
People wanted a committee anyway, cause we "have to do something".

Though he didn't say it, it was IC 35-47-11, firearms preemption that prevented him. I looked it up beforehand and was going to say it myself.

Here are some notes I put on FaceBook on the Firearms Freedom Project NWI page.

    ...
    I'm here

    ...
10:50, and still haven't gotten to our part.

    ...
Got out a bit after noon.
Basically, they admitted they can't do anything by State Law.
IC 35-47-11 is the law, in case you're wondering, though they didn't mention the number.
I looked it up beforehand cause I was going to state it.

    ...
Basically they formed a committee to investigate what they can do.
They will be public, with notices to the public.
I think it will be chaired by 2. People were upset there weren't more.
But, why would a politician jump on that grenade.

    ...
They did have a comment section, at the end.
Even though nothing would be done this meeting.
OMG! And I don't like that expression.
But it was EVERY anti gun comment.
Weapon of war, powerful, no one needs, etc.
All the same you've heard your whole life.
One lady cried about comparing it to Rowe vs Wade.
I guess life is only precious when they want it to be precious.

    ...
There were 2 media there. I don't remember.
So there MIGHT be something in the paper. After me comments, they came up to get my name spelled right.

    ...
I was next to the last commenter.
Not sure why I did. They weren't doing anything this meeting. And most (not all) won't listen.
I talked too much, cause I had sat through all that anti gun drivel.

    ...
One comment I made was about demonizing the other side. Nothing gets done.

    ...
Pointed out an AR was just a rifle. The .223 cartridges is only as powerful as a 9mm. That rifles as a group were such a small percentage.

    ...
    A NRA member was there.
Stating he was okay, we don't need them.

    ...
4 members or so of a church group were there. NRA guy was one of them.
You can guess what hey talked about.

    ...
Gary committee member brought up muskets.
So I brought up they wanted citizens to have what the government has.
And I brought up his other rights changed with the times.
First and 4th amendments for example.

    ...
End of report, unless I think of something later.
Before next month I need to make a notebook of anti gun "facts" and their counter arguments.

I did make one small mistake.

I wore my t-shirt from ranger up.
A skull and crossbones on the front.
And the line "Sometimes a man must spit on his hands and spill some blood."

Not exactly what I was going for.
Maybe I need someone to check my clothes before I go.
    What's next week's shirt?

Two of my buddy's neighbors in Southport about 10 houses down got drunk, passed out in their hot tub and drown, apparently 7 days ago, hazmat is down there right now cleaning them up, several 55 gallon drums of decomposing human flesh and hot tub water are being hauled out.

Neighbors on the other side said the 55 year old neighbor and her new 35 year old boyfriend had been on a 10 day bender, and it caught up with them, her ex who he knew moved out 12 months ago because she was drunk more than she was sober.

You have to be wasted to get in a hot tub when it's 99° out.
