Went to Fresh Country Market on Grant in Gary yesterday.

They have quality paper towells, tp, wipes and cleaning supplies. Got bonless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.00 #. 4 per 5.5 # looked like turkey breasts.
Got Scott tissue 12 for $12.99, a little more expensive than BCVP (before corona virus PANIC) but, the first Scott I have seen.

The store almost looks pre PANIC.

ETA lots of pork, a tad higher but not outrageous.
Is this the one off Grant and 25th ave southwest corner?

You would think they would lift the limits on buying milk since many farms are having to kill cattle and dump milk since schools and other high useage places are closed.

4 summers ago I visited a HUGE dairy farm owned by his sister & husband in Phoenix.
He commented this week that they are having to dump 65,000 gallons of milk every single day last week.

    Just a PSA

Hit Meijer in Portage today. Some of the shelves are still pretty wiped out. Still no TP or wipes. Cleaning supplies very thin as well. Canned soups are extremely thin as well as some brands of canned veggies. Milk was a little thin as well.
Virtually no Pork other than ham and bacon. They had a few packs of spare ribs and bone in chops but that was all. No baby back ribs, butts, shoulders, roasts, boneless chops, etc.
Fruit still well stocked except Strawberries. At least my strawberry patch is starting to take off now, so wont have to worry about those for awhile.

I have been going every 2 weeks to Kroger, going to Sam Club monthly.
Plenty of milk (never seen it low), & finally got green beans after noone having them for weeks early on. :dunno:
Have't been able to buy breakfast turkey sausage patties the past 2 visits & chicken tenderloins (w/o breading) this week.
Was able to buy strawberries easily, fortunately, or I wasn't going to be welcomed back into the house.

My wife loves cooking, so I've been eating like a King, which w/o activity is playing havoc with my carb-cycling diet. :)
Being retired, I was going to the gym 4 days per week with light exercise (Tai-Chi, Yoga & some "old people" exercise classes), and at this point in life, going to the range was exercise, but all that is gone, but I'm still eating. :ugh:

Quarantine Day #36 and I think I picked up the Quarintine 15. Between the wife cooking baking, empty calories, little exercise, and trying to eat out more/shop to help out the local businesses, I'm going to need to reevaluate how to stop this slide. :dunno:

Restaurant Depot opens to general public due to pandemic emergency

We shopped at the one in Alsip next to the flea market yesterday. Managed to drop almost $500 there in groceries and supplies. Some really good bargains and some fair ones. I would say about 80 percent of the groceries, both staples and cold, were available in single or reasonable sized packages. You could also buy 50lb bags of flour if you really need it.
