    My recommendation would be to replace the GFCI breaker to the sub panel and either replace outside, kitchen and bath outlets with GFCI outlets, or If possible protect the individual circuits with GFCI breakers. As you are set up now if there is a problem outside you will not be able to restore power to half your house.

    It was designed that way. I have the knob and tube and the basement on it as well. I suppose I could run the outside off the main with a GFCI breaker to isolate it from the inside. Maybe if I put more receptacles out there. In the meantime, I could just kill the trouble circuit if there is an issue.

    I bought a new (to me) Jeep Liberty. It needs a windshield and the heat fixed, but it was $3000 less than blue book.
    In related news, I will have a 2000 Dodge Dakota RWD for sale soon. $750 to my ingo friends.
