I am a new member here. I currently own a Yugo SKS with scope, Mossberg 500, and what I believe to be a .22 cattle killer. It was left behind in the house I bought. It is a single shot, and is TOTALLY inaccurate. Can't even hit a 12x12 target from 10 feet away. I am looking at getting a pistol and still haven't decided between a 9mm or .40 cal. My brother has an XD .40 that is nice, but my wife is also wanting to shoot and I am not sure that she would be able to easily handle a .40 to start off with.

Welcome to INGO, and 9mm is usually great for shooting, and even self defense with the advancements in rounds. They are also a lot less kicking on the recoil. (although, i do love the 45 myself), 9mm is just tons cheaper to shoot. Just my 2 cents, take it for what its worth, and buy what you feel comfortable with (and what your wife does as well)
