Who has been making the most noise about what is probably one of the lowest priorities on Obama's huge laundry list? The gun dealers. They're laughing all the way to the bank because they;re selling every cheap assault style weapons for 10X what they paid for them. JUNK eastern block AK's that you couldn't give away for $200 at shows six months ago are now for $800. With the number of jobs at stake in Detroit alone - the abysmal state of the economy - home proces in the toilet - do you think this guy is going to waste time with an issue like thi s- NOW? Get real. And while we're on the subject - the "hero" of the NRA - herr Bush - is the goofball who let his cabinet screw up our economy in the first place! So all those who are happy that he didn't reinstate the assault weapons ban and are standing in a house that's been or about to be foreclosed - raise your hands. If I had my chouce I'd take the house and get an airsoft gun! Get real folks. These weapons are going to be available for quite some time. Want to make a statement? Boycott your local gun dealer. At this point they're really not your "friends". :rockwoot:

You are suggesting that he will fix the economy?
I disagree also that the dealers are not our friends. They are business people. If what you have to sell is priced at something I'm not willing to pay, you will keep that item or find someone who is willing to pay your price. Value is in the eyes of the buyer. If you buy a $800 AK and bitch that you spent so much on it, than indeed you might need help.:D
If however you buy one at that same price and feel good about it, how does that make the dealer a bad guy? You might not understand the simple concept of supply and demand. I'm guessing the AKs that are now available are not being sold to the dealers as cheap as they were before because demand is up.
Truth of the matter is I have spent way too much time trying to explain something to a Troll who thinks BUSH Co. screwed up the economy.

I disagree. Yes, my local FFL that I use is making sales left and right of ammunition and firearms, so yes, he IS making a bit of money right now. At the same time, HIS costs have gone up considerably, also, so he is not making money hand over fist. E.g., I was pricing some mags from my FFL just last week. He informed me that his cost on them had risen four dollars in just the last week because of the demand for them.

The firearm that I bought from him a month ago was a revolver. I did my research before going to see my FFL and he was asking right smack on what other FFL's and most private individuals were asking for the same model and caliber. He didn't screw me a bit.

JUNK eastern block AK's that you couldn't give away for $200 at shows six months ago are now for $800.

IMO, the people that are buying those weapons are ones that have not done their homework for prices and quality or they want a gun RIGHT NOW, regardless of who manufactured it. An AK is an AK, right? You and I may know that there are quality differences stemming from where the firearm was made, but not everyone does.

With the number of jobs at stake in Detroit alone - the abysmal state of the economy - home proces in the toilet - do you think this guy is going to waste time with an issue like thi s- NOW? Get real.

I have not read one single post on INGO that has said that Obama's first act in office is going to be to institute an AWB, more restrictive gun laws or even a flat-out ban on all firearms for the whole nation.

What I HAVE seen here and in my own individual research is that Obama seems to be a person who is not very "gun friendly" as an individual, as a politician in Illinois or as the President-elect as referenced by his voting record on firearms issues and what he has said while running for the White House. For me, no, I don't think that this will be the first idea on his agenda that he will push for, but I also know that he has four long years to address and push the items lower on his agenda as time passes.

You seem to have a head of steam up about this issue right now, that Bush is the one that has caused the U.S.'s economic problems, and I disagree with that. Do I like Bush? Not particularly. He has done some very knuckle-headed things in office in my opinion. All I will write is that the president and his staff that were in office directly before Bush seem to have put in place quite a few of the policies that led to money being lended to persons that most of us wouldn't have lended money to in our private lives, let alone in our business life.

My "plan" for dealing with Obama for the next four years can be summed up easily:

    - I bought what weapons for my household that I wanted or needed to feel safe in my own house. I, personally, couldn't take on a military invasion force taking over my neighborhood, but I would feel pretty darn secure in my own home until they rushed my home to try to pry me out.

    - If Obama's ideas don't pan out well for me and my family, I have alternate housing arranged, canned food and such laid in to my basement to feed my family indefinitely, alternate electricity for the short-term, etc.

And too much other stuff going on to mention here.

If the "Obama years" go fine and he doesn't restrict my constitutional rights one iota, then I'll get together with all my family and neighbors and sing ***-bay-yah. If he does (like I feel he will in my heart-of-hearts) - I don't trust him (as a man and as a politician) not to try to restrict my way of life and the rights that I am entitled to.

    First on the list? Nope.

A threat to my rights? Yep.

Why would you say gun control is low on his priority list? he even lists it on his web site as a priority"common sense gun control laws."And why would he do it fairly quickly when there are so much larger issues? Because we are all worried about the larger issues and therefore distracted(he hopes). As far as gun dealers being my friend.I do my own home work when I go to purchase a firearm. I pay what is reasonable to me,if it is not then I do not buy it. This goes for my house to...if I can not afford it..i would not have chosen to buy it.Gun dealers are business men and when the demand goes up so does the price. Did you stop buying oil when it hit 140 dollars a barrel? No,it is simple supply and demand that determines price in this country. If you want socialism and gun control move to France.Oh,one last note. There are many variations of the AK. I choose as a free man to get two SLR-107UR's at nearly $1100.00 each. Why because they are Arsenal ak's and in my opinion the best made ak in the world. In 2 years they will probably be worth at least $1800.00 or more each if the prices do the same thing they did during the last ban. I do understand you are not happy about the prices on some items, but it a supply and demand issue.

Sounds like he thinks he got ripped off by a gun dealer.

Those darn gun shops! Always making you spend your hard earned money on things you dont want to spend it on. I tried telling this to my wife the other day when Bob forced me to buy two guns from him. Needless to say, she didnt buy my story.

I am not going to waste my time arguing with you on who is at fault for this. But you should look at the history of this and a lot will throw blame at Clinton.

And in the end its the people that wanted to live like they were rich when they didn't have the money.

Further, I have spent a great deal of money on making my run to buy firearms. And I have not paid one inflated price. So if you use your head this isn't even a problem and deal with honest people.

Ofcourse I have put 10 pmags on Gunbrokers with a $1 starting price auction and just let the market work. Sold all at $30+. Did I rip these people off? No, it was a bidding war I just set back and let my item sell. They chose what the price would be. Its called free market but you wouldn't understand that because you want the government to be responsible and in control of everything.

    StevenInINdiana,

#1 learn to spell before you post on a public forum
#2 Your man Obama has never been shy concerning his intentions to ban ar-15 type weapons and has also included some shotguns that are intended for sport shooting and handguns with detachable mags.
#3 Your man Obama wants to make criminals out of law abiding people that use firearms to protect there personal property.

This is what your man Obama wants to do:
    • Ban all "non-sporting" firearms from civilian ownership
    • Reclassify the following as "non-sporting."
      - All firearms originally included in the Clinton's 93 Assault Weapons ban
      - All semi-auto rifles, pistols, and shotguns (including hunting rifles and shotguns)
      - All firearms with "high-capacity" or "rapid-fire" capability (e.g., 5-shot pump shotgun, 9-shot Glock)
      - All long guns with a pistol-grip, forearm vertical grip, collapsible or folding butt-stock
      - All firearms with muzzle-breaks
      - All 50 BMG caliber rifles
      - All Class III NFA firearms and destructive devices, e.g., full-auto, short-barreled rifles, etc
    • Give sole authority to the U.S. Attorney General's Office to classify any firearm as "non-sporting."
    • Remove all "non-sporting" firearms from civilian ownership through voluntary donation to law enforcement or compulsory turn-in, i.e., no grandfathering.
    • Ban all Internet advertising of firearms.

Ripped off by a gun dealer? Not once - in the many - many transactions that I've had. Knowing when to buy however is an altogether different thing. I love the knee jerk reaction that a forum like this has to any excuse to start hoarding canned food and gearing up for that hopeful knock on the window when you'll get a chance to ventilate someone with your itchy trigger finger. My point - is that if you simply wait a few months - the feeding frenzy surrounding Obama's election will have died down and prices will go back to normal. I know several dealers - and they're all laughing their way to the cash register as frenzied buyers rush in thinking this is the last time they'll ever get a chance to own something without a wheel that shoots anything larger than a .22.

Hell - I'm selling parts of my collection as well - with guys like you justifying the higher prices - in such an elegant manner - it's a seller's market! It's too bad most of you probably fall into the group that is suffering the most as a fallout from the Bush administration's economic policies - or you'd be able to put that same passion into buying cars and save Detroit!!! As it is you're probably scraping together what's left of your 401K's - or children's college money (those of you with kids who planned to actually send them to college) - so that you can pay three times what a gun is actually worth. I think W.C. Field's summed it up best - but an enlightened group like this already knows the rest of that quote! Wait a couple of months and see if your friendly dealer will buy those guns back - at half of what they sold them for - when you need the money for groceries!

Well, first of all, the President and his cabinet do not make the economy run and it is a fact that the Obama style programs Roosevelt presented prolonged the 15 year depression by 7 years.Obama has even started backing off his tax increases due to the economy. He is not a fool, just a shyster Chicago politician. Blame the Congress, they are the ones that passed many of the laws that got us in this state with forced loan programs to people that could not afford them for the sake of fairness (look it up). Blame the American people for foolishly living above their means.

I am impressed that you feel so much smarter than "an enlightened group like this". Good for you!

You will find many on this board that are not buying into the frenzy.

    Troll is a troll does.
