I think that was on here a year or so ago. It made no sense to me then or now. Why would somone put a 200 dollar stamp on a 69 dollar rifle:dunno:

    From wikipedia:

    • Obrez: During the Russian Revolution, revolutionaries cut down Mosin Nagant rifles to pistol size for easy concealment, because the revolutionaries had few pistols. Most of these rifle-caiber pistols did not have sights, being crudely made. After the Revolution, the numbers of Obrez bolt action pistols decreased as the Bolsheviks took over the imperial arsenals and gained access to stocks of Model 1895 Nagant revolvers. This unofficial Mosin variant is perhaps the rarest Mosin of them all. Obrez pistols are highly prized by collectors.

I have a 12" mosin (formally a full length 91/30) and a 9" Mauser. They are just fun to shoot. The Mauser i got first as i saw it on sturmgewehr and though WTF, if i don't like it just strip the barrel and sell the receiver and id come out ahead (on a form 3). The mosin i took out s a full size with a customer and he ended up not buying it. I really don't want another Mosin so i hacked off the barrel to 12". If i wasn't an 02 and had to actually pay the $200 tax and wait the current 6 months i probably wouldn't have the mosin. The Mauser yes.
