I can only assume if the employee said that, it was in jest. You'd be hard pressed to find a better shop anywhere in this state!
also, unless they were more rare samples, their Mosin prices are right in line with everyone else.

Eta: if they were "overpriced", why would you want him to take it down? (Most of the Mosins aren't on the wall, but on the floor in shipping crates.)
do you make a practice of handling guns that you don't really have interest in?:dunno:

Im sorry I didnt realize you were there. It was most assuredly not spoken in jest. They had 2 Mosins in the whole shop. Period. I asked him to take them down because I thought they might have been something special and if they had been $20-30 would not have made a difference to me. Never got to find out. So no, despite your magical experiences, I will not be returning to that shop.

Whats the going rate for a Mosin Nagant rifle these days?

$150 for crated 91/30 refurbs in a gun store or generic Mosins online (usually very poor frosty, dirty, worn bores and sloppily applied shellac that is scratched and coming off - all buried in cosmo). I have no idea why anyone wants one of these Mosins unless it is an uncommon year/arsenal, or they are trying to collect years in bulk and don't care about the shape. They certainly don't usually make very good shooters, and I actually despise them because these are the rifles that have given Mosins a bad name. A lot of people simply want the cheapest one they can get and think that cheap is the only reason to own a Mosin!

If a seller knows he has a pristine bore 91/30 Mosin refurb along with good cosmetics (usually a laminated stock), then $220+ (even for the very common years/arsenals/models like 1942 and 1943 Izhevsk 91/30). Here is an example of a $220 1942 Izhevsk 91/30 Mosin Refurb purchased 2 years ago. I don't typically look for 91/30 refurbs anymore, but when I see one online from a reputable seller in really fine shape, I try to pick it up. I also have a 1943 Tula 91/30 refurb aquired more recently for same kind of money that is a twin to this in every way. Need to look at the receiver markings to tell them apart. Don't see refurbs like this very often, but they are out there for a bit more money. Quality, not quantity or bargain basement price is my motto.
