Since the M2 is the select fire version of the M1 carbine; if you got this for $840 as per the GunBroker ad, you got something of a deal. That being said, if the M1 carbine is not "import marked", it was still a heck of a good buy. Congratulations!

As I read it he has an M2 but also just purchased that rifle. I have seen many imported rifles sell for more then 850. Having said that an import mark is a part of the history, Not sure it matters either way. Too many variables to generalize an import mark as a deciding factor if its a good deal. :dunno:

Not to split hairs, but.... I use this CMP forum at M1 Carbine - CMP Forums for the real low down on M1 carbine collectors/traders and as a general guide for any and all M1 carbine things. I agree that the "import mark" is subject discussion but if you look at the buy/sell prices therein, the "import mark" degrades the value of a given carbine by a couple of hundred, in nearly all cases. My comment about the M2 was poorly worded. I was reflecting on the fact that the GunBroker headline had "M1 carbine underwood, M2......"

1943 National Postal Meter after the rifle range day a few years ago. I ran the rifle course with a line of other Sheriff Deputies and department AR-15 rifles. It was fun and the carbine did well

The Greatest M1 Carbine Accessory ever, about 30 Pounds with out the Battery Electronics box

The M1 under all that crap is an 1945 Inland with a 1945 barrel.
