I got a S&W 442 airweight a few weeks ago and have fell in love with it qualities. It is super concealable and light. It is pleasant to shoot considering its size. I know capacity is a downside but using speedloaders is pretty quick once you get used to it. I put 150 rounds through it this weekend. Anybody else like their snubbie?

Have two of them to carry a S&W 642 with CT grips and a Tauras 605 SS that is ported. Both hammerless for pocket carry, the 605 will get the front sight real dirty when shot a lot, but the porting tames the .357 out of the pipe.

S&W retail prices are always way above what you can actually buy them for

Then, find a new 340 cheaper at an online dealer and post the price. I want to see how far off that price was.

Those were representative street prices from the same dealer, not MSRP.

The MSRP for the 340PD gun is $1,153.

I'll go so far as to predict that we'll see the demise of the 340 shortly after S&W gets their own polymer snubbie out there with all the bugs worked out.

    S&W 340 - $723*
    LCR - $398*

Maybe he meant lighter on the wallet! ;)

    * Prices Bud's Gunshop 5-4-10

Though there is a price difference between the two firearms, one is not comparing apples to apples. The LCR can only handle .38 special +P; whereas, the SW 340 handles .357 mag 158gr loads (maybe not comfortably for the shooter, another debate). If one looks at a comparable S&W snubbie chambered for a .38 special +P light weight, the prices are more inline. Don't quote me but Midwest Gun Exchange in Mishawaka will run specials on S&W snubbies like the 642 for around $400.

I also disagree that the 340 is a dinosour just waiting to rot when S&W comes out with a polymer frame. Mainly for the very reason there are still stainless steel snubbies that shoot a .357 mag cartridge, people have different preferences.

I love my S&W 360 with CT grips, am glad I purchased it and am glad to see the snubbies have quite the following.

    Big snubs

While I like the J frame snubs and have a 642 that is carried often, my most carried snubs are 296 and 625-10. the first is a 44 Special, and the second a 45 ACP. The 296 has a 2.5 " barrel and the 625-10 has a 2" barrel.

Both normally carried IWB, or in OWB in Hume H 721 OTs.

I got this off another member here a couple months ago. Taurus 85CH, it's the first gun that i've been carrying on a regular basis. I went with something a little cheaper since it was my first wheelgun.

So far I love it! It's pretty easy to conceal, it shoots well, recoil isn't as bad as I expected. It's a tad on the heavy side but no biggie.

I'm just using an Uncle Mikes IWB and it carries pretty well :rockwoot:

I have a classic snubby. S&W Model 36 Chiefs Special. It is not original I had it refinished. Some would say keep them original but she is so pretty now and functional. I thought about getting something more modern but I saw her in a case just begging to be carried again so I gave in.
