170 rds through the Ruger 10/22 Sporter 31157, 18.5” barrel, walnut stock, Ruger BX trigger, Samson B-TM taller iron sights front/back, extended mag release with Nikon Prostaff 3x9 scope.
Comparing it to the accuracy of the Thompson Center TCR, which is a 10/22 clone.
Today's Ruger 10/22 Sporter edged out the TCR, but that could be just the difference between scopes or the human factor.

The trigger, extended mag release and walnut stock provides added pleasure when shooting.
If the scope had an adjustable parallax on it, I could be even more consistent in accuracy.
It's probably set up for 50 yds & I'm only shooting 25 yds.
Doesn't look like I'll be shooting at MCFG again this summer with 465 compromised yet again from where I live on the SE side of Indy.

I was adjusting the scope for this ammo (Aguila Eley Prime SV) on Row 1 & 2.
    Zeroed in by Row 3.
    1.75 circles at 25 yds.
This handgun target of 1.75" was too easy for a rifle.
See pic below this one for the rifle target with its 7/16" & 7/8" blue circles
    Range 6.14.2024 1.75in circles at 25 yds wNikon Prostaff 3x9 scope 100% Aguila SV.jpg

Used this rifle target with its 7/16" inner blue circle & 7/8" outer blue circle.
Ignore (except for comparison purposes) Rows 1, 2 & 3 where I shot the Thompson Center TCR (upgraded 10/22 clone).
    I used Row 3, 4 & 5 (& bottom row) for the Ruger 10/22 Sporter upgraded.

Picked up a CZ 457 Lux .22LR (bolt) last week to test against my CZ 455 bolt.
My idea of a good time!
Only shot at 25 yds indoors b/c driving to MCFG is wrought with expressway construction & I had limited time today.
My range targets with the 455 were at 50 & 100 yds, so no comparisons today.

Used CCI SV, 1070 FPS, 40 gr, SLN.
When I get down to a serious shoot off at MCFG, I'll use a better ammo.

I could barely see the crosshairs b/c they were not dark and/or heavy enough.
There was a parallax adjustment, but that didn't help, so I don't know why.
Hopefully, when I go out to 50 yds at MCFG, the crosshairs will be more defined.
    I was using a BSA 2x7 scope.

I put 2 rds in each circle in mostly the 2nd row.

Anschutz 1416.....SK standard plus and rifle match both did 5/8" for 5 shots at 50 yards.

Each also put 4 of the 5 into .25".

Pulled rifle apart and found orig owner had shimmed to get bbl centered in channel.
    No doubt causing some stress.

Will have to correct the bedding issue on the orig stock or order a Boyds ( also to be bedded ).

The trigger is two stage? Has light take up and breaks low enough. Appears the gun wants to shoot. So looks like my Savage MKII TR is going bye bye. I just prefer a sporter rifle, even for messing around at the range.

BTW some ring issues w the radius top of receiver. Found others that cleared but rifle shot low.

Used J&P delrin 11mm adapters and Burris Signature Zee rings w .010 offset bushing. Looks decent, and solved the elevation issue (scope ran out of travel ).

Ill proly get a lam rimfire hunter from Boyds, pillar bed it and paint. Woulda got walnut if they offered the skip line laser " checkering" to pay homage to orig stock pattern.

Got to revisit the CZ 455 I bought here 3.8 years ago.
I bought a CZ 457 three weeks ago to compare with my older 455.

Decided to keep the 455 I've had instead of selling it and keeping the newer 457.
From memory, the 455 is heavier and I have my best scope on it, and I don't want to mess with moving it over to the 457 just to see if it will shoot any better.

Today, I used only CCI SV with older 455 and its groups were tighter.

On these "larger" 1.75" circles and 3/4" blue squares, the 455 groups are tighter.
    Range 8.28.2024 @25 yds. on 1.75in circles to oompare with 457 targets.jpg

455 did 100% on both the larger 7/8" & smaller 3/8" blue circles.
457 did 84% on the larger 7/8" circles and 60% on the 3/8" smaller blue circle.
    (original 457 target pics posted on this thread August 7)Range 8.28.2024 @25 yds. 3eights & 7eights to oompare with 457 targets.jpg

455 did and average of 93% on both these rows of 1/2" circles
    (88% 1st line & 100% 2nd line).
    457 did 79% & 64% on 2 different lines on these 1/2" circles.
