I think right now it's the market. Summer slow down, gun and ammo sales tend to pick up around Oct. and stay steady through March.Been trying to clear some things out also...put a few on the sale board here and so far nothing...not sure if it's my offerings or the market in general....guess I just wait and see....
Sounds wise. Thinking ahead is a good thing.I occasionally clean out the safes. Usually this is in the pursuit of quality over quantity. Last year I got rid of 3 ARs in exchange for 1 AR. Saved some precious safe room.
I am really not interested in acquiring new guns right now. I have what I need to fill the roles. My son is a sophomore in college and I fully expect him to take half or more of my guns in a few years. By then the wife and I will be ready to downsize. He can have what he wants, I might sell off a few things to upgrade. Overall I will keep what I think I need.
Not sure I understand this concept owning firearms you have not shot, but then maybe I just don't have enough yet to get into that category. Whenever I get something new to me, it bothers me until I get out and make sure it works like it should.I have several firearms I’ve acquired or inherited that I have never shot… with that said. Everytime I sell one or give one to my boys I automatically regret it and wish I had it back..
This is a very strange phenomenon I haven’t been able to understand or control… lol
I did that once. I bought a new Sig P226, put a SRT in it and at that point in time I wasn’t hitting the range as regular as now, it was winter and I was eyeballs deep into my home reno. It sat in the box for probably 6 months and then I sold it. Never even shot it.Not sure I understand this concept owning firearms you have not shot, but then maybe I just don't have enough yet to get into that category. Has happened a few times and sometimes it does not take years to buy again. Took 6 guns to be sold on gunbroker in 2021 and even after I was heading back home I kind of had this feeling there was one I should not have left behind (2012 Sig P226 9mm) So I end up with a new Sig P226 again last year.Of course, I do find myself selling off some guns and years later buying the same thing again.
Anyone else do this?
Yeah, that makes no sense to me, either. I try to at least have some practical excuse to buy something, even if it's not necessarily a good excuse, lol. But they all make it to the range, usually that same day.Not sure I understand this concept owning firearms you have not shot, but then maybe I just don't have enough yet to get into that category. I find myself wanting to get some new guns, but I have no idea what to get. I have every role filled with my current collection, so it's difficult for me to consider new guns when I think "Well that's kind of redundant since I already have XXX gun." I might even have 2 or 3 guns that all fill the same role already.
This happens every few years, and my usual solution is to sell off some stuff, then it's easier for me to figure out what my next gun experience will be. I'm not the type that says "Never sell a gun", as I have only 2 that have family attachments, and I have no sentimental attachment to the rest.

Anyone else do thiI've been downsizing a lot lately. I think I may sell off my surplus collection to fund better gear and things more practical.
