I have tried just about every tupperware compact out there and feel that the M&P edges them all out (for me). It shoots like a full size, has good capacity, reliable, durable, and easy to conceal. What more do you need?

(No I don't work for Smith and Wesson) :D

Me too - but as others have said OP needs to run the drill for himself. Good deal on the SIG (never cared for them myself though) - it's just so much personal preference.

If you're not used to a SA trigger, then I'd suggest the Glock 19. No DA/SA trigger pull to throw off your first shot. Lots of holsters and aftermarket parts available. Plenty of people who own the same gun to help with any questions you might have.

    or the S&W M&P

    or the Springfield XD-9

or the HK P30 (truly a work of art, but you will pay)

    or buy them all!

    Hope this helps!

    Great and timely thread.

Because I rawk, I will be getting some free bonus money from work soon, and I am looking to modernize and upgrade.

I'm leaning towards the G19, but the sexy CZ75 has also been brought to my attention and really caught my eye.

    I'm not considering these because:

    S&W MP--butt fugly
    XD-- mostly fugly

They are not 9's but aimsurplus has police trade in G22's for 400$, seems like a decent price price to me. They come with 2 mags, lock and case.

    Walther PPS 9mm

I'm not in your shoes anymore, but when I was, I found the Walther PPS right for me. I liked the size of the pistol and didn't want to carry 20,000 rounds with me. I found the trigger to be similar to the Glocks which are larger and I can't CC a Glock comfortably. I carry mine alot and have had one FTE in the first 50 rounds with no problems after that. Good luck!:ar15:

You really have three primary guns that fit that slot:

    S&W M&P
    Glock
    XD

I definitely prefer the XD, but it's personal preference that will determine which is right for you.
