Yes. I know multiple story apartment complexes are within the zone for certain. Along with many above retail stores.

Some media coverage. But the people they are speaking to are just thankful they are not breathing teargas daily now. Very left article but does point out some of the apartment complexes inside the zone.

Most of the 200 people that live here are not being included in any conversations and feel scared, unsafe, and are leaving the area to stay elsewhere due to the unrest. People “running” the zone are also actively trying to spin the narrative away from the protests that worked to amplify desires of “police leave the area” and “stop killing black people” to a narrative that is now taking my community hostage with a list of demands to adopt socialism instead of the clearer messages that the protests against police were actually for.
Are they being forced to stay against their will, are they willingly staying, or are they being forced to stay by circumstance?

At this point simply cutting them off and letting their little camp site collapse under its own dysfunction is the best approach. I know the media won't cover it accurately, but let the voters get a glimpse at what life would be like if these pukes get their way. Never stop your enemy while he's making a mistake.

The last thing we should want is for police, national guard, or military to come in with force and start cracking heads. The MSM may be ignoring this for now. Or claiming that 'peaceful protesters' only moved into the area because the police "abandoned" the station without mentioning that they had to abandon it when it came under attack and was set on fire by radical leftists. But if any group with authority uses force to break things up we'll see non-stop coverage of it between now and November. The media is praying for video of cops or national guard members clubbing "college kids" or turning fire hoses on them.

It will be WACO times 100.
    Yup.

This is an inconvenient blip in the narrative. The Resistance's first territory is falling apart under its own incompetence. Going in heavy handed lets them play the victim, and gives the MSM something they can pin on Trump. I don't doubt that these groups have learned from similar groups abroad, and are prepared to fake serious injury to drive the news cycle.

Let this one ring circus keep delivering the comedy. Document everything, and use it to call out the left's nonsense. Oh you cried about us not coming down heavy handed on peaceful protesters in Michigan? Why the silence on armed gangs assaulting and extorting residents?

I saw an interview with one of the residents that said they basically agreed with the people taking over the area and their biggest complaint was they had to carry their identification with them to go through the checkpoints. These kind of people are exactly the ones that need to stay there and learn a little bit.

ID to enter territory annexed by insurrectionists = OK
ID to vote to ensure that our democracy is protected = bad

Regarding the profiteering from slavery it must be remember that very, very few of us can claim any family members that went back to before the civil war. I believe the numbers are less that 25% that actually had ancestors from before the war. Most of our ancestors arrived in this country during the 1890's and after, although there was certainly an influx of Irish during the tragedy of the potato famine of late 1840's. However, even then the vast majority of those Irish that arrived located in the northeast and were dirt poor themselves, so their profiteering was minimal.

I don't like to see any statues torn down. This is a mob destroying property. That said, I don't necessarily have a problem with civil war statues being torn down that were erected during the civil rights era. Those were not (I don't give a darn what anyone says) put up to honor their solders, but were rather a big "F you" to the civil rights marchers. However, even then IF those statues are to be removed it should be done through a democratic process and not by a rampaging mob.

There is a lot of crap we have done wrong. However, history was built on every civilization doing a lot of crap wrong. There is also a LOT more that we did right! For thousands of years in our culture women were relegated to second class status. We, through a republican and democratic process, diminished this class distinction by granting women the right to vote. Granted, they should have had it sooner, so what we got wrong was timing, but what we got right was the ideal.

For the most part we avoided the horror of colonization and exploitation. We did a little but nowhere near as significant as the European powers, especially King Leopold of Belgium.

We need to get these people to understand that the folks in the past should be judged by the values and mores OF THE PAST, not by today's standards. People operate within the system they exist in at the time and very few push those boundaries. Our founding fathers did just that with the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Yet consider that out of 13 million colonists only 56 put pen to paper and butts on the line in the Declaration of Independence. There were only 39 people that signed the Constitution. We owe our Constitutional protection to 39 people that agreed to it out of millions of colonists. These people marching, protesting, and doing so free of massive military retaliation do so under the very umbrella of protection granted by 39 white men over 200 years ago. That is not to diminish the contribution(s) of any other ethnic group here or around the world, but white people have done good as well.

    Regards,

    Doug

Regarding statues torn down: It's art. It should be preserved. If the theory used for the Civil War statues was used for Greece and Rome (who were much more barbaric), there would be no remaining art from these antiquities.

It is not so important how the offended feel about the statues today. It is what a kid in the year 2525 will feel when he/she/it/they see them. Art is history.

Should Gauguin be burned because some fundamentalist doesn't like nudies?

Should the Vatican be torn down because a Protestant is offended by the Pope?

American Taliban. They should be shot while looting and pillaging.

We could always stick that in the Reparations agreement. If caught defacing historical property as designated, all reparations will be forfeited.

Was thinking that along these lines, there was a sign up for a while, possibly still up that said "Now Leaving the USA". If that is the case, they would need to start treaties with the USA or other countries to get food and supplies. Anyone doing business with those inside the "zone" would also need a permit from the federal government to trade with a foreign country.

By the time those permits and agreements would finish negotiations, maybe enough people behind the lines not by choice would rise up against the worse than third world country these morons brought on them.

    Just a thought.

My family came over on the Mayflower. To my knowledge, none of them even traveled south of the Mason Dixon line, so I know they never had slaves.

Somehow I doubt that factoid will help much if someone asks me to "check my privilege."
