Order online, ship to an RK store and no transfer fee... That said folks have had varying experiences at RK for transfer.Someone told me that Rural King does free transfers if you shop there? Maybe that was if you ordered online from them. Anyone know?
Does a LGS know what they are getting in as a transfer before UPS or Fedex show with it?Why would LGS do transfers on the same guns they sell at a price less than the profit from the gun? I get it if it is a used or hard to find firearm for a customer. I can also see some FFL’s that exist to do transfers for profit. I just don’t get why anLGS would facilitate sales for the likes of Buds Guns?
I would not know as I have never been involved in any part of a transfer. I am trying to understand why from a business perspective, I just cannot see a logical business reason why any LGS would do them other than for good customers.Does a LGS know what they are getting in as a transfer before UPS or Fedex show with it?
Better to get a smaller profit than potentially no profit. Also, they don't need to tie up money to buy inventory. Why would LGS do transfers on the same guns they sell at a price less than the profit from the gun?
Nope. I can tell you with confidence that many an LGS gets the mail, open a box, and it has someone's old pea shooter in there with a crappy photocopy of a driver's license and some leftover Amazon packing materials. Some stranger following the tracking number will usually show up a few hours later and ask if you have their gun.Does a LGS know what they are getting in as a transfer before UPS or Fedex show with it?
NO kidding lol. I was reading along and was like wtf 2012? Who does $10 transfers? Funny though I still use Front Toward Enemy in Demotte. Just talked to Matt this week in fact...Holy necropost Batman!
I fail to see how a $25 charge is enough for the work, record keeping, and liability. Certainly not in my value system. In a previous thread we discussed and laid out the legal steps to be followed by the FFL. For example, when the typical HVAC contractor wants $150-$200 to just show up at your house to diagnose your problem $25 bucks seems small to me.Better to get a smaller profit than potentially no profit. That's one opinion. Obviously it's discretionary.I fail to see how a $25 charge is enough for the work, record keeping, and liability. Certainly not in my value system. How much were they 11 years ago?I'm in NW Indiana (LaPorte) Title I transfers are $40.00, with no charge for NICS. Title II are $150.00, including all paperwork, prints, mailing. Customer furnishes photos. I do charge $25.00 in addition to the transfer, for preparing and routing Multiple Handgun forms.
It depends on the site. But some places have pre set up FFL dealer networks that have the fee listed.I'm seeing some good prices on the Internet. But, they only ship to FFL addresses.
What can I expect in tranfer fees from an FFL?
Then that is not a very good business if that is the case that he makes $20 on a gun. I have heard that kind of story for years but makes no business sense to me at all. I suspect LGS makes 20-35% on a sale depending on demand for specific items. That equates to $100 on a $500 gun. $20 on a $500 is 4%.a couple days ago i went to my LGS/FFL guy to pick something up, he told me his mark up on guns in the shop isn't much, and he would make around $20 profit selling me something he already had in stock in the shop, or make the same $20 for just doing the transfer, so it makes no difference to him if i buy something he has in stock or if i order something online and have it shipped to him.
Then give me another opinion, that is the topic of discussion…That's one opinion. Obviously it's discretionary.
When I worked at a shop, we got transfers that were mysteries! And we hated it!Does a LGS know what they are getting in as a transfer before UPS or Fedex show with it?
it is always busy when i go in there, and many new/different guns in stock every time i stop by, so he must go through a lot, im sure the gun business is just like every other business, very competitive, you have to beat the competitors prices in order to make money. Then that is not a very good business if that is the case that he makes $20 on a gun. I think the idea is that if someone buys a gun, at near cost.. they will want ammo/accessories that may have more margin on them. Then that is not a very good business if that is the case that he makes $20 on a gun.
