If you're at a gathering at someone's home and you come across a plugged toilet that you fix, who should pay the dry cleaning bill for the pants you were wearing?

Two points to ponder here, I think. As stated above.. Your decision to tackle it with nice clothes on ... Your bill. Secondly, If this is friends or family... Never . Capability to repair does not force requirement to do so, even if asked. I doubt I'd attempt for a casual acquaintance even if asked. I feel the bill is yours but I would think friends & family would offer to pay.

Another thought here.. Are you saying you did not have your pants on while attempting to unclog a stopped up toilet? Is this something that northerners do regularly ? What system was being used to unclog the toilet.. If a plunger, I have never been that violent with one to cause an eruption or splash out. I'M NOT GOING TO ASK IF ANY PICS WERE TAKEN!!

George Costanza took his shirt off in the bathroom. Why can't hoosierdoc take his pants off?

Should have used the 20 gauge instead of the 12 gauge, less recoil.

If you take it upon yourself to correct the situation you should take it upon yourself to accept the cost whether it be your time or your pants. Having said that the homeowners should offer to launder the pants for you just being courteous but no written guidelines that I'm aware of. IMHO.
