It makes me cringe when men refer to women as females because it sexualizes them. A woman is a person; female is her gender.
Do you cringe when women refer to males, boys, or men?
Not as much, because it doesn't happen that much, at least that I know of. But it's the same idea. A man is a person. Male is his gender.
The only situation that I think it's appropriate (yes, this is just my opinion, not gospel) is when police are describing a suspect. It's awkward to distinguish between a man and a boy or a woman and a girl sometimes. It's easier to just use gender as a descriptor and say male or female.
It makes me laugh that so many here touched by today's politically incorrect.
I would much better walk behind a naturally born female, because so many dress in the manor so men will watch them walk on bye. Thank you..........

But where is the line drawn? When describing teens/early 20's of unknown age, who's a boy and who's a man? Easier to just say male. Same for girls/woman, of course.Truly in 60 years I have never had this problem in my life, nor have I heard anyone else hesitate or think about whether it was a man or boy....
Expresso. Same deal.It makes me vehemently annoyed when people say "expecially" instead of "especially."

No gender descriptor necessary here. This 'person' seems nice. And if the film doesn't end soon, I'm going to be late to work.
.
Meh. That's just Craigslisters trying to get more money for old crap."Vintage". Or any word from the activist's dictionary.
I strongly dislike (trying not to hate) "no problem" as a response to "thank you". What happened to "you're welcome"? Hell, what happened to "thank you"?
