It seemed to work for me when I worked the night shift. Most other people that I worked with did the same. It still helps when I take a nap.Pulling a shade in a single room does not signal your body to start shutting down as a proper sunset does.

How does the sunlight being later help a landscaper? There isn't more sunlight, it only comes later. It is hardly a side hustle for someone who owns a landscaping service or works fulltime during the season.
It has to do with you declaring that the extra 1 - 2 hours someone might work is insignificant.
They can sleep in?How does the sunlight being later help a landscaper? There isn't more sunlight, it only comes later.
You want to change the circumstance for everybody just to get what you want
The others say, why not just change only your own circumstance and leave everybody else out of it
How does that make it not a side hustle? The very reason that people have side hustles is to help make ends meet.
And what does that have to do with anything, anyway?
And we’ve come full circle from where we started nuh-uh uh-huh nanny nanny boo boo I know you are but what am I your mama. And you want to change the circumstance for everybody just to get what you want.
Perhaps you should re-read the comment to which I was replying? Because this is not the scenario. Holy straw man.It is hardly a side hustle for someone who owns a landscaping service or works fulltime during the season.

So when does dinner fit in? You have shades on your windows, no?Let's say the lawn mowing season goes from 01 May - 30 September. Let's further say that lawn mowing without artificial light can safely take place through the extent of civil twilight. (It is likely somewhere into nautical twilight, realistically.)
Indianapolis:
01 May: EDT civil twilight ends at 9:08pm = 5.5 post-work hours w/light
31 Aug: EDT civil twilight ends at 8:44pm = 5 post-work hours w/light (edit: looked at the wrong date)
30 Sep: EDT civil twilight ends at 7:54pm = 4.5 post-work hours w/light
Those are the minimums.
Remove DST, and you would still have, minimum, 3.5 hours with light after work. That's not enough time for a yard work side hustle?
(Where did the "reason for edit" field go? I edited this to reflect 01 May - 30 Sep as the lawn-mowing season. I was debating whether lawn-mowing season was May - Aug or May - Sep. Post now shows both, just to make sure I show a reasonable worst-case at either extreme.)
How is that relevant, though? The issue at hand was sufficient daylight to do landscaping as a side hustle after one's primary work shift. So when does dinner fit in? You have shades on your windows, no?
Working daylight ends not long after sunset. I DGAF about nautical or astronomical twilight. I care about when these eyes can't see well enough to be safe, or even when the grass starts to get damp because the temp's have fallen enough to dew stuff up.Nope. At peak season, nautical twilight ends at 10:30. Astronomical twilight ("dark") doesn't end until 11:18.
But a working guy has to eat. You work all day. Then you go straight to your side hustle without food? How is that relevant, though? The issue at hand was sufficient daylight to do landscaping as a side hustle after one's primary work shift.
It depends on what work is being done. Lawn mowing can take place safely at least through civil twilight.Working daylight ends not long after sunset. I DGAF about nautical or astronomical twilight. I care about when these eyes can't see well enough to be safe, or even when the grass starts to get damp because the temp's have fallen enough to dew stuff up.
And remember. My mowing season is longer than you guys up there in snowy Canadastan (cah-NAH-dah-stan). My last mow has been as late as November in recent years. I've already started mowing this year.
Wanna bet the shift work as a lunch break and two other breaks? Failing that, he could eat while en route. And waiting to eat until after the side hustle is done is also an option. But a working guy has to eat. You work all day. Then you go straight to your side hustle without food?
I've started mowing too, but thanks to DST I have to wait until almost noon before the grass dries out from the dew.Working daylight ends not long after sunset. Excuses excuses. Not my problem.Pulling a shade in a single room does not signal your body to start shutting down as a proper sunset does.
Why should he make special provisions to eat when DST solves the time crunch for getting **** done after work, side hustles, etcetera. Get out of work ~5PM. Be home maybe 5:30-6PM. Eat dinner promptly at 6 if you're lucky. Be ready to go to the side hustle by 7PM. So then that gives you 2.5 hours of useful daylight on standard time. 3.5 hours on DST.Wanna bet the shift work as a lunch break and two other breaks? Failing that, he could eat while en route. Well. I'm a morning person too. But I don't usually mow that early.I've started mowing too, but thanks to DST I have to wait until almost noon before the grass dries out from the dew.

If I had my druthers, I'd mow at dawn, but I try to be considerate of my neighbors.Well. I'm a morning person too. But I don't usually mow that early.
Those are all personal choices for our hypothetical side hustler to make. Why should he make special provisions to eat when DST solves the time crunch for getting **** done after work, side hustles, etcetera. Plus, say he does it your way and starts the side hustle work without dinner. More hours of daylight after work the more side work you can get done and the more money he makes. So maybe he decides to put those dinner hours into work anyway. An hour extra of earning if on DST.
Did you read the comment I replied to?I thought the context was side hustle after work. So the more hours after work, the more work you can do. So DST = mo money.
