Rusty, I am sorry to hear of what happened today. I’ve never experienced that level of loss but my parents did before I was born when they lost a newborn. My father would always correct my mother when she would say that they had 5 children to remind her that they had 6. When my father passed, we discovered that he had carried my sister’s prayer card in his wallet every day for decades in remembrance of her. Your purchase of the SAA reminds me of his dedication.
When my father died, we were all heading towards Pittsburgh for his funeral. My sister was heading up from Virginia Beach and was spending the night at a hotel room. She says that in the middle of the night, she woke up and there was a woman sitting on her bed that looked like she had just stepped away from a party for a moment. My sister asked who she was and instead of answering, she said not to worry, he’s with us and he’s Ok. She asked again and the woman said “I’m Kathy!”. Kathleen was the name that my parents had given to the newborn.
When my brother got to the hotel where we were all staying, during check-in, he gave our last name. The staff member looked up the reservation and said “Here it is, Kathleen ____”. He said “No, it’s Jerry” and the staff apologized and said that she had no idea why she said Kathleen, when it clearly said Jerry.
Maybe it all means nothing but I have to believe that there’s more to the world than we know and that you will someday get to meet the little cowboy or cowgirl.
