Do we have a theory? Are they scared of the spot light post Florida?

If anything Florida should bolster the bill. Illustrate it is necessary. The only thing more reinforcing is if Florida had been a sunday at Catholic church with a parochial school on site.

Maybe what I suspect is somebody falling on their sword in martyrdom trying to show teachers shouldnt carry spooked them? I dunno.

If anything the a-holes that added the ridiculous amendments poisoned the well and spooked them into not wanting to get into the debate on crap like AWBs, etc.

Cross posting to SB 33 and Constitutional Carry Threads:

    The critical comment is this:
Because both bills did pass one chamber earlier in the session, provisions could still be added to other bills as the House and Senate iron out differences over the next two weeks. Bosma says the background check provisions won't return, but he and Long both say they'll try to get back to something closer to what was originally filed.

Both chambers had passed different versions of the fee repeal. Bosma says the House and Senate Public Policy chairmen -- Representative Ben Smaltz (R-Auburn) and Senator Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) -- will be in charge of trying to find common ground.

House, Senate Reverse Course on Bills Relaxing Gun Laws | 93.1 WIBC

    FULL TEXT QUOTE:

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Two bills reducing fees and restrictions on guns are dead at the statehouse -- for the time being.

The House had overwhelmingly approved a bill repealing the fee for lifetime gun permits, while exempting holders of five-year permits from undergoing background checks when they buy a gun. But that vote came before the Florida school shooting which has rekindled a national debate over guns. House Speaker Brian Bosma and Senate President Pro Tem David Long both say now isn't the time to relax background checks. The Senate Appropriations Committee pulled the plug on the bill, declining to give it a hearing before a noon Thursday deadline.

Meanwhile, the House declined to vote on a Senate bill carving out an exception to Indiana's ban on guns on school property. Indianapolis Republican Jack Sandlin's bill would have permitted churches which share a campus with schools to allow permitholders to carry guns when school is not in session. That bill, too, had passed with overwhelming support. But legislators had loaded the House calendar with 19 amendments from both sides of the gun issue. Bosma says several of those amendments would have triggered "very emotional and high-pitched" debates that would get in the way of thoughtful legislating.

The bill had languished on the House calendar for four days, with Democratic amendments to ban bump stocks or automatic weapons, and Republican amendments to repeal not only the ban on guns at school, but bans at the statehouse, state parks, the State Fairgrounds, and casinos.

Because both bills did pass one chamber earlier in the session, provisions could still be added to other bills as the House and Senate iron out differences over the next two weeks. Bosma says the background check provisions won't return, but he and Long both say they'll try to get back to something closer to what was originally filed.

Procedurally, SB 33 is dead because it didn't get past 2nd reading. But, I agree with you that it - meaning the content of SB 33 and its amendments - could get added to an existing bill.

So now it sounds like we need to get back to calling our senators and reps at this point to try and get that done.

Concur ... I'm only not sure what bill will get amended into
    - same with the dual bills of SB 237 / HB 1424 making changes - parts of those already passed both chambers.
so I guess that is fair game as well. ... Per the post I just added from WIBC ...

Thanks for the play by play Bill. I guess we see what happens tomorrow. Politics is really annoying...

As you translate Kelly, make sure you type really slow. Those Navy and Marines dont read so fast.

I type with two fingers so most can keep up :D Being retired Air Force and having spent three of my 21+ years on a Navy Yard (Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland) I do speak Navy and can communicate with all branches of the military.

Break-break: need more context on the Hemp Extract bill I may be supporting if it includes SB 33 language.

That take action link in the NRA-ILA link is certainly handy.

I see says the blind man! That hotlink is a lot easier than the way I found the same info concerning the Conference Committee Report.

Props also to BrotherBill3 for pointing me in the right direction. We're puttin the band back together!!

Monday at 1000, room 156-B at the Statehouse. SB 33 and eliminating fees for LTCH.

    Hey!
I was there in the late '70's.
I broke an F-4J Phantom on that air-station.
I was told I did some $60k damage to one of our "Sky-Pigs".

Sadly - I'm probably out - I'll listen and do play by play as I can make a semblance of working - (unless someone's got a free, spare car motor for a GMC terrain up their sleeve ...)

anyone? no? looks like I'm out.

Now on to the bill - / amendment

    1) it is a TCH extract (CBD oil I guess) bill - and it reads:

that said two committees have conferred and agreed as follows to wit:
that the House recede from its dissent from all Senate amendments and that the House now concur in all Senate amendments to the bill and that the bill be further amended as follows:

So the original bill as approved by the Senate is there - being recommended for passage
    (I see this as gamesmanship)

    then

Drop in House Amend #2 and MOST of House Amend #18 to SB 33:

Fixes 95% and most major concerns w/ amended SB33
    and drops in
only a FREE Lifetime LTCH from now on. - free less cost of Prints - since that is an outside thing and $20 for renewals.
and we don't get brady exempt anything. ...

Still - I think it is a win.
