I think that Springfield, Ruger, and S&W all make very good full-featured 1911's for around $700. It's my opinion this is the minimum you should go for, if you want a good 1911.

I must be a horribly frugal shopper ......... $800 is the goal and realistically a fairly generous amount for 1911, another $50 and the choices continue to increase
my first was a Sig Tac Ops with the "free" .22 - sold the .22 and my net cost for the 45 was under $650, I then bought 2 Para 1911s, Elite Target ($599)and Elite Pro Stainless ($829)
both of which by the way NEVER failed - I ended up selling each for exactly what I had into them and gained 2 - $100 cash rebates
The Para's were replaced with Dan Wesson Heritage which I bought used from the original owner for under $850 and a NEW Colt XSE Stainless $869 including shipping & transfer.
The Sig really is a great value - included 4 factory mags, magwell, ambi safety, rail, night sights, etc
    It can be done :)

How many do you get for that price? Should be at least two in the box for that kind of money. I'm not sure what they are saying about the grip safety.

1st that gun is overpriced from the get.
2nd I can buy new and build beyond this spec for half the money and have a better gun as they are not accurizing it.
3rd they are using $150 in parts. This is a total rip off. Total.

Adding a $60 beaver tail to get rid of the G-I piece. Ambi safety is about the same money.
Most likely polishing the factory ignition controls and adjusting the spring. No parts.
    What a rip.

Do they include a complimentary jar of Vaseline too? Heck a brand new Dan Wesson Valor with Duty Treat is still $300 cheaper than that lol. And the Dan Wesson is nicer than that will ever be.

This is a Springer G-I that I hand picked from the LGS. It had the frame to slide I was looking for.
    -C&S ignition package.
    -Trigger Manf. escapes me
-all the external controls are stainless wilson pieces.
-Clark hand fit barrel and bushing
    -ArchAngel MagWell grips.
    -3.5 Lb. trigger. Very crisp.
-Very accurate runner. Never a failure.

Including the gun I had right at $1100 in this. Lots more parts involved.
Of course my labor was not figured into it but I used a lot more parts.
I could do what they did for so much less.

Sure sounds like it. Like Dean points out above, that's well north of a nice Dan Wesson.

Here's a nice 1911 for the money on ar15.com and the guy has a lot of feedback.
I think these are about $1000-1100 new.
The add has been bumped a lot, so I'll bet it could be had for $800
    Good looking gun too
The SW1911TA is like a regular E-series, but has a rail and night sights.

    S&W 1911TA with accessory rail $875 SHIPPED - AR15.COM

... or the external extractor... or the undercut trigger guard... or the rail... LOL

I have a railed 1911. It is my night stand HD.

I am way cool with everything but the extractor and the scale cuts.

Trigger guard is a common enhancement.

I have tuned a few of these. They run well. Nicely built.
