Initial reporting is that dude was a nobody...

    They always are.

But this made him somebody. IMHO, this is what arseholes like him, the Vegas killer, the Texas church shooter, etc all desire.

If people with that mindset know they will be deprived of that, even in death, there would be less of them.

I really don't need to understand his reasons. No generalization can be drawn from statistically insignificant outliers.

My only hope is that he did not breed.

Well, in his blog he describes himself as Conservative. He is against gay marriage, is anti-abortion, pro death penalty, anti-sex offender registry, and believed terrorists should NOT be released from Guantanamo Bay. Interesting Defining my Stance

What has happened these past few weeks in Austin is terror. Several bombs appear to have targeted people of color—with two African American men dead and a 75-year-old Hispanic woman critically injured, among others. This kind of violence has no place in America.

    ... among others. Okay.

He was also a fan of Kim Dotcom and internet file sharing. That could explain where he got the technical specs for the bombs.

Weird, how many of the things he supported or disliked, he became himself.

There may not have been any supporting information there, but there is some elsewhere.

Can't copy and paste the relevant part, but it covers the religious angle of the family.

To your point, a devout family does not necessarily equate to a devout son. Or daughter.

I submit that absent a serious mental illness, a devout Christian doesn't set bombs to maim and kill random people. I think I saw it in a creed somewhere.

I can't account for what people call themselves or want others to think about them.

I just heard a police spokesman talking about the bomber on the news, and he said that they were working to try to determine why he did it. I heard the same thing about the Florida shooter, and probably others as well.

I would ask any person to explain to me the value of that information. What possible mitigation measures could be expected to result?
