May not be so much that there weren't shootings, as that the media didn't run them 24/7 given the low probability of legislation.

That being said, the 2017 Las Vegas shooting got a lot of press. Perhaps left many questions as well, but did get lots of coverage.

IMPD calls the rifles officers carry "patrol rifles." Perhaps the suspect was armed with an AR-15 and the spokesperson mistakenly used the term. I imagine the stress of the situation didn't help.

Well the morning news shows dug out their "Mass Shooter therefor Gun Control" media packages with the hosts sitting in their guarded studios wringing their hands.

So ten people is basically a warm summer weekend in Chicago, just without the media coverage.

All of a sudden there is no coverage of the illegal alien kids sleeping on the floor... just as photos and details started coming out and the word "crisis" surfaced. Interesting distraction for the next week.

We don't need gun control, we just need to make murder illegal. Because laws fix things.
