SB 77 Recreational use of throwing stars. Don't get excited, looks like crony capitalism to me. Authored by Liz Brown (NRA-PVF: D; KiA: F-) so I may oppose this just because. Changes the language from "Chinese Throwing Stars" to "Throwing Stars" (great work there Liz, people had been exploiting the Vietnamese, Korean, and Filipino Throwing Star loophole for years. Don't think I need purple for the sarcasm with that statement.)
Recreational use of throwing stars. Allows a person who is at least 12 years of age to possess a throwing star for recreational purposes on certain business premises if particular requirements are met. Makes the violation of certain throwing star provisions a Class C misdemeanor
Everything gets overly complicated when politics is involved. What the? why did someone decide to make this overly complicated, does she really think ANYONE will set up throwing star.. alleys? Lanes? whatever.... umm what. The law on the books now is an ignored embarrassment, that at most is used when some cop decides to throw the book at some perp and happens to find one in their possesion.
Its not rocket science, just leave this part, and nix everything else.
SECTION 1. IC 35-31.5-2-41 IS REPEALED [EFFECTIVE JULY 2 1, 2023]. Sec. 41. "Chinese throwing star", for purposes of 3 IC 35-47-5-12, has the meaning set forth in IC 35-47-5-12(b).
My goodness that man needs help understanding firearms and firearms law (we had a nice exchange with me answering "sir, we don't register firearms in this state" so many times that even Liz Brown stepped in).I feel dumber having read this.
I could see the ax throwing places adding star throwing if it were legal to do it.does she really think ANYONE will set up throwing star.. alleys?
Muh GhOsT GhUNs!I feel dumber having read this.
Such bills, and their myriad similar provisions in other bills, are a prima facie violation of the Equal Protection clause. Being a police officer does not confer special rights and privileges, outside of the specific role of law enforcement. Period.
I'm so sick of Police officers getting free passes that the average citizen gets a Felony charge if we do it.
3D printer goes brrrrr, Mr. Randolph.Muh GhOsT GhUNs!
dUZ mAK mE sKEERED!Muh GhOsT GhUNs!
Can we the citizens not implement a basic intelligence test and minimum passing requirement before these morons get sworn in?I feel dumber having read this.
Is this like when one guy tells another guy how horrible something smells and he smells it to see how bad it is?Can we the citizens not implement a basic intelligence test and minimum passing requirement before these morons get sworn in?
Yes, I feel dumber too
Nope, 16 is the age of consent in IN regardless the age of their partner as long as they are also 16 or older. There is something like this for 14-15 yr olds if their partner is within a couple of years and they are in an ongoing (non-family) relation.I thought this was already the case?
One would hope, but this bill wouldn't legalize selling just possession of under an ounce. The change in DUI law would be a good thing though, if someone partakes in a legal state a week before and a LEO hauls them in for a blood test a week later under the current law they are up the creek.Think Indiana is ready to join its neighbor states?
HOAs still wouldn't be effected. And probably not the seed patent owners, at least not the GMO ones which I believe generally have a contract with the purchaser regarding use and saving seeds. This one is interesting. HOAs (and seed patent owners) will not be pleased:
Representatives tend to reflect their constituents. I'll leave it at that. Can we the citizens not implement a basic intelligence test and minimum passing requirement before these morons get sworn in?
Yes, I feel dumber too
I could see that coming into conflict, where Covenants restrict what is otherwise construed/protected as a right under state statute.HOAs still wouldn't be effected. And probably not the seed patent owners, at least not the GMO ones which I believe generally have a contract with the purchaser regarding use and saving seeds.
(e) Nothing in subsection (a) may impair the terms of a lease or
contract, including the governing documents (as defined by
IC 32-25.5-2-3) of a homeowners association.
Do they though? Other than having the right letter next to their name that is.Representatives tend to reflect their constituents. I'll leave it at that.
Wants to deny evil guns to under 21. Looks to get all of the usual D "assault weapon" nonsense into law.More bills up in both Senate and House. Will give them the eye later.
HB 1238, that ain't Bob Seger's bassist that's for sure. Haven't read yet, bet it mentions the shoulder things that go up.
